It's almost December!

Winter is on the way!

It's approaching faster than I'm used to.

I know winter technically doesn't start until the end of December, but Crescent Heights is different from most places. Our little New England state is close to Canada, and we experience snow very early.

My family used to go up to Canada to snowboard, it was our favorite family vacation.

I remember one year when I was a kid, the first snow of the season - little flurries - happened at the beginning of November. We nearly all froze to death on Halloween night, going trick-or-treating through the neighborhood.

The only downside to that fact is that it's below freezing outside. December is one of the greatest months of the year in Crescent Heights. The snow begins falling in small increments, increasing the closer we get to Christmas. Real snow begins covering the mountains that we'll use for snowboarding during the winter.

However, it doesn't matter how cold it is outside. That doesn't stop the creative juices from flowing through my body.

I woke up this morning thinking about the impending snow that'll start falling from the sky. I couldn't stop thinking about our upcoming trip to the lodge, and nothing could stop me from thinking about Jayden.

After taking a long shower, the sun had already risen and I looked outside to see that the trees were nearly empty of all the leaves. Autumn is leaving and winter is coming fast.

I texted Jayden that we needed to start working on our art project. We've been procrastinating. Whenever we work on art together, we divert from the project and start randomly painting and sketching.

Jayden's brilliant idea was to meet in the park to work on our art project.

When I got to the park, Jayden was already there waiting for me. "You sure have a thing for the outdoors."

"Let me know the last time you locked yourself in the house all day long, then you can judge me," he grinned.

I plopped down on the blanket because the grass was wet and freezing.

"Alright," I sighed. "We have our artist and the painting we're going to replicate. Now we need to figure out how we're going to make it unique."

"My first guess would be that we look at the original painting for a while, then recreate it without referencing it," Jayden suggested.

"That's a good idea," I smiled, wrapping myself tighter in my sweatshirt. "Why are we outside when it's freezing?"

"If we want to be unique and recreate a Leonid Afremov painting, then we're going to need to be inspired by the world around us," Jayden explained.
