"Why are staring at me like that?!" I was staring at a blonde woman in front of me, unsure of how to react. I just came back to school. Well, technically, It's been 11 years since I graduated from high school. But for Isabella, it's only been a week or so.
Of course, I had imagined a lot of scenarios in my head of what's today going to be like. And that includes getting into a fight.
Since earlier this morning, I have been feeling this death glare pointed at me, burning a hole through my head. I would always look where it was coming from, only to see a tan, blonde lady, staring my way.
'If staring could kill, I would've had a hole through my head already'. I thought to myself and continued walking. As if the bandage on my head wasn't enough, she seem to want to add another injury.
She hasn't done anything yet so I planned on doing nothing about it. Although it was bothersome to have someone's eyes glued stuck to me all day, I couldn't really do anything about it.
That was of course, until she approached me herself.
"Hey, you!" I was eating alone at the busy cafeteria when she walked over from her seat and sat in front of me.
"Why are staring at me like that?!" She aggressively sat down and looked at me in the eye. Her face was now sitting up close to me.
Shouldn't I be asking that question instead? Considering how she's been staring at me, she might as well just give me her eyeballs at this point.
'Oh! Isabella's friend! She's Sarnai Dormer. She's of Mongolian-British descent and the daughter to Steve Dormer of Dormdust Industries, the conglomerate that has control over 90% of the entertainment industry in the country'. A voice reverberated inside my head explaining her identity.
"And now you're spacing out?" As if her aggressive face from earlier was just a façade, she's now wearing an irked look.
"So it's true?" She looked straight at my forehead with an obvious bandage stuck to it.
"I swear I'm gonna pull that b*tch's nails one-by-one." Looking to the side, she murmured a declaration of committing a crime.
"Sarnai." I said in a low voice. And as if she's seen someone with three heads, she held her mouth open and looked at me.
"You remember me?!" She seems to be using all her facial muscles with how expressive her face was. She was just wearing a deadly expression earlier, now she's shocked and surprised.
"I do... how could I forget?" I tried talking smoothly and acting as if I knew her, even though I totally ignored her earlier.
"Really? Huh..." As expected, she's skeptical of what I just said.
I never knew I had to channel my 7th grade theatre kid spirit for acting that I thought I'd never need. It was a mandatory club I had to join during junior high, it was the only club that needed the least amount of resources I could provide compared to sports or joining the band.
"Maybe the shock just caused some personality defects?" I said as I tried my best to search my head for a reasonable and detailed excuse to the personality change.
"It really messed up my system, BIG TIME. I slurred my words for the first few days and I couldn't walk straight." Although a lie, victims of head trauma usually had personality changes. They become erratic or agitated and in worst case scenarios, they develop a speech impediment or get paralyzed.
"It felt like that one time when we snuck out alcohol from your father's cellar and totally got buzzed." I supported my claim by inserting a personal experience that I got from Isabella's memories. And it seemed to have erased Sarnai's doubt as his forehead soon smoothed out.
"So what are you feeling now?" She asked worriedly.
"I feel... out of it and confused, most of the time." I said as I held my head acting as if it hurts.
"Yeah, makes sense. Considering you were pushed head first down a flight of stairs." Sarnai sighed and rested her chin on her palm.
"Cecil, that f*cking sh*t. I should've done more than just pull her hair out." Her thoughts spilled out once more and she murmured.
"Last week was CHA-O-TIC! If I wasn't stopped, I swear I would've drowned that b*tch under that large juice fountain." Her sudden loud voice made me flinch. It quiet between us then she started speaking loudly.
"Oh, and karma totes bit her @ss. A lot of investors pulled out from their recent line of resort projects and I might or might not have instigated that." She smiled contemptuously.
'Now I get why she was one of the main obstacles in the high school arc.' I thought to myself. I think she also liked the.
'Wait...high school arc? Villains?'
"By the way, isn't a week or so too short for you?" Sarnai cut off my train of thoughts and asked.
"Did that old geezer force you to go?" I'm not sure what she's pertaining at. But after a few seconds of silence, I remembered that Sarnai would call Isabella's father an "old geezer".
"Ah...that." I said and slowly nodded my head.
"He also didn't let me visit you." She frowned and continued to speak.
"I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he suddenly reveals that you're an illegitimate child or some sh*t." Sarnai rolled her eyes and sighed again.
"Don't worry though, my mom told me you're always welcome in our home. She'd totally adopt you." She said, as if trying to reassure me that I have somewhere to go if that old man throws me away.
"I'm still SO weirded out. You're so silent it's killing me." Sarnai clicked her tongue and shook her head.
"You shouldn't be at school; you should be resting for a month. I don't want a defective Ysa." Sarnai expressed her thoughts freely, I wish I had that ability.
"Well, I would still accept whatever you become, but still, it's so boring with just me talking and you staring." She looked me up and down probably thinking about my sudden change of personality.
"Anyway, you don't have to think about Cecil, I'm gonna take care of that b*tch for you. For now, you should really just stay at home and recover. You still look so out if." She said as she scans over my face looking over me with worry. Her words soon followed a long silence as she continued to look at me.
"Thank goodness you didn't seem to have gotten a fatal injury, or worse, went into a coma. 'Cuz if you did, you better believe I'm erasing Cecil and her family from Earth."
I couldn't stop myself from laughing at her last remarks. I feel this familiarity towards this girl that I've never met before. It must be because of Isabella's memories that came rushing through my head like a film on 10x speed.
