I was in the middle of cooking dinner when I suddenly heard a knock on the door. Binato ko sa sink yung spatula na hawak ko as I instinctively eyed the clock on the wall.
Eight thirty.
Napailing ako. I made sure to check on my reflection first in the mirror bago ako tuluyan dumiretso sa pintuan.
"Ang tagal buksan, ha. Kanina pa ako kumakatok dito." I raised an eyebrow at her. Oh, don't you sass me, Santillan. Baka patulan kita. "I mean, good evening, Gaile."
Tinalikuran ko na siya as I motioned for her to enter. "What took you so long? Anong oras na."
She took off her shoes at tsaka dumiretso sa couch at pabagsak na humiga dito.
Tsk.
"Pagod ka?" Instead of answering, she lifted her head onto my lap. The proximity certainly made a toll on my heart. I tried to ignore it, at least for now. I placed my hand on her head as I run my fingers through her hair.
She mumbled something but I didn't quite hear it. I went back to the kitchen. Anything green and leafy, she doesn't like. I opted for steak fettucine.
"Santi, wake up. Dinner na tayo." I gently tapped her cheek in an attempt to wake her up. Still, no response.
I gave her an annoying grin habang pa-diretso kami ng dining. Nakasimangot kasi siya dahil sa ginawa ko. I do feel bad for waking her up, kaya lang baka kasi malipasan kung hindi siya mag di-dinner. Malamang, pagod kasi. Naiirita lang ako, eh. "You guys are called a council for a reason. Let the other officers do their job, Santi. Huwag mo sinasarili ang responsibility."
Wala siyang respond sa sinabi ko. "Aside from being a walking waste of oxygen, ano pang silbi ng vice mo?"
She clicked her tongue clearly doesn't like where the conversation is going.
Oh, so you're suppose to cut her some slack just because she's a senior? Anong logic niyan? "Alam niya naman magiging busy siya this school year, why did she even run for the position?
