Chapter 6

"Hello? Earth to jess??" I hear someone say. I wake up.

"Huh?" I say in a groggy voice. I lift my head off of someone's shoulder.

"We're at school" daniel laughs

"What?" I ask "I fell asleep?"

"Yeah, did you not get any sleep or anything?" He asks getting up out of his seat and grabbing his backpack.

"Ugh no I was up late talking to my mom because she doesn't get home from work until 11:00 so we had to talk after she got home and..yeah"

"Oh..you've never told me why you moved here to live with your aunt" he says. Uh oh.

"Uh...yeah..was that the bell? We better get to class" I say.

"Uh yeah" he says suspiciously.

I knew there was something she wasn't telling me I just didn't know what. I guess I'll have to find out myself. She has volleyball tryouts tonight so I'll go to her aunt and ask her.

*Later*

"I'll see you tomorrow" she says grabbing her bag and walking out to go to volleyball. Shes riding with chloe. Her aunt walks in.

"Oh hi daniel, I assumed you went home since she left" she says

"Yeah I actually had to ask you something" he says

"Ok" she says sitting down at the table.

"I was wondering why jess moved here, she's talked about her parents before so they are alive, why would she move here?" I ask

"Yeah her parents are alive, but they are divorced, living in Colorado, but she was bullied really bad at her old school by these girls and they turned the whole school against her, spreading rumors, taunting her, even cyber bullying, it was bad. She has trust issues now because of it, I'm surprised she trusted you, her boyfriend even turned against her. I'm not surprised she didn't tell you, it's not easy for her to talk about. She's gonna kill me for saying this" she says

" Oh my gosh, why would they do that to her?" I ask

"I don't know, I guess for fun, jess never did anything to them" she says.

"Wow" I say "I should probably get going, my mom is probably wondering where I am" I say "thanks"

"No problem anytime sweetie" she says. I walk outside and go to my house.
