"you're really going..."
a voice was heard from the door and she whipped around to see her older sister. nishimura konon, an undeniably beautiful 18-year-old girl who has incredible control over her power of pyrokinesis. her long black hair delicately framed her face as she walked towards the other girl in the room.
"you know what this means right?"
"yes, i'm well aware I might die"
she heard her sister suck in a breath at that. it's not like the girl was confident she would live. after all, all the combat strength training was given to riki. konon let out a sigh and brushed her hair back with her hand.
"i just don't want to loose you too... mother and father already left us and we don't know if riki-kun is still alive-"
"he's alive!! i know he is!!"
the girl burst out at her sister, interrupting whatever konon was about to say. after a few moments of silence, the older of the two was about to begin talking again but she saw the tears gathering in the younger's eyes. she tighten her grip on her bag, fighting her tears.
"riki is alive. i refuse to believe he'd die that easily"
konon looked at her younger sister with empathy. of course, she had hoped riki would find his way back to them, but when she found their parents dead in the forest they had gone into... she had lost all hope.
the girl tried to shake the memory out of her head, she was with konon that day. neither of them would forget it. the two sisters had gone out to look for food, they didn't venture too deep into the forest but they were stopped when they saw their parents. not the reunion they had hoped for when they had said goodbye only a few days before. their parents had taken riki out on a journey, one that the girls weren't allowed to know about. the two of them saw their parents laying lifeless on the grass, there was some evidence of a fight happening in the area but there were no traces of riki anywhere.
that all happened two months ago.
and nishimura ruri couldn't take it anymore.
she needed to at least try to find where riki went. did he continue on his journey without their mother and father? did he get taken away by some lurking forest creatures? is he really still alive?
"ruri-"
she looked at konon and it made her stop talking. konon pursed her lips together and nodded.
"i know you need to at least try... i'll leave you to prepare then..."
ruri heard konon gently closing the door and she took a deep breath. she knew it would keep eating her up until she found out the truth. so she had to make this decision to leave to find the answers on her own.
her dark brown orbs flicked around the room. this room belonged to her and riki. even if she was and girl and riki was a boy, they had always shared a room. ruri smiled a bit as she rummaged through her memories to find her happiest moments with riki.
whether it would be them playing with shadows or him pulling pranks on her, they always had fun together. of course, they had their fights but it would quickly be solved with a light joke and an apology. a tear finally fell from her eye and ran down her cheek.
oh how much she has missed him in these past two months...
she wouldn't show konon but she desperately wanted riki back. she misses seeing his poof of black hair. she misses hearing his stupidly low voice. she missed how he'd play pranks on her every other day. she missed how he'd wrap his arms around her when she needed comfort. most of all, she missed having him around. riki's presence in ruri's life was all the more obvious when he disappeared, and it made ruri's life so much more painful knowing that he could be dead.
