Lovers Lake.

~Robin's POV~

At breakfast one morning from sleeping over at the Wheeler house Mike, Nancy my friend younger brother was talking about the new kids Eleven and Eddie. Apparently they were adopted by Hopper the police officer in our town.
"And then she threw the food at this other girl at lunch."
"Wow to be freshman that sounds so fun."
Nancy said rolling her eyes and I smiled happy myself too I was a senior this year instead of freshman. Definitely don't miss those years.

As we walked to Skull Rock it was a place where lot of teenagers hung out. Nancy put the blanket down once we found an empty spot of grass. She tapped it and I sighed before sitting down by her.
I thought of a joke to tell Nancy as we sat surround by nature. Surprisedly no other teenagers were around today.
"What do you call an alligator with a vest?"
I couldn't help but smile as Nancy looked puzzle.
"An investigator."
I said making her laugh.
"Okay that was funny."

As we talked and ate our sandwiches we heard tree snap. I jumped panicked before Nancy reached for my hand scared. Before I realized she was reaching for the flashlight. She turned it on even it if was only 2 pm. The person or the two people who made it snapped saw us.
"Steve what are you doing here?"
He had his hand up to block the flashlight.
"Me what are you two doing?"
The guy next to him had brown long curly hair and he didn't look familiar.
"We we're headed to Lovers Lake."
"But only lovers go there?"
I said as Steve chuckled.
"She's joking Eddie."
He turned to me and rolled his eyes.
"It's just a lake to relax now we are leaving."
"I want to go swimming. Do you Robin?"
I knew it Nancy still liked Steve. For some reason it hurt but I pushed it away.

With that all four us headed to Lovers Lake. I knew the stories I heard from all the straight guys in class would talk about it. The girls would always dream of coming here. Nancy never mentioned she wanted to go and I never wanted to take a girl here. Especially with the stories of what happens.

Eddie as I found out his name as we walked this way went in first. He stripped down to his boxers as I looked away. Thankful I was into ladies he was not a guy I'd go straight for.
"Come on guys it's warm."
I looked to the lake seeing Eddie appeared back up and used his hands to move his hair back.
"Where you meet this kid?"
I asked Steve as he was getting down to his own boxers. We worked together and that's how I met Nancy. When her and Steve were together last semester she would always come to the ice cream shop.
"Uh.. at school he umm helped me with this paper I had due."
Before he could say anything else he ran into the water.

I looked over seeing Nancy get undressed to her own underwear. I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked away.
"You coming in Robin?"
I looked at Nancy voice and nodded but couldn't find my voice.

After we were all in the water Steve started a splash war. Guys versus girls and laughter came out at everyone. As my hands got tired I dived under to avoid the splashes. I found a big enough rock to sit on. Climbing up I sat on it watching the splashing. The splashing died down as the boys swam away out of the way and I didn't see them again. Nancy joined me on the rock as she moved her arms to wrap around her legs to hug them.

"So what you think about Steve's friend?"
I shrugged at her question.
"Seems nice I guess."
"Yeah kinda cute too."
"Not my type."
She laughed before facing me.
"How did you know you liked girls anyway?"
Oh great the question. I found a little rock on the big rock we were sitting on as I played with it.
"I mean you don't have to answer sorry. To personal sorry."
She said as I set the rock down before facing her.
"You."
"Huh?"
I hummed before saying it again.
"You.. actually back in third grade you. When you were drawing in Mr. Green's class and my mom had to walk me into class since she made us late."
Nancy looked at me as I kept talking.
"And I walked over to you and you were drawing this yellow house with pink door and purple roof. I don't know it was cute and you were too."
"Me? Why haven't you ever said anything?"
"We'll I was to nervous to talk to you about it. We never met up in school until last semester when you and Steve started dating. So each time you came into to get ice cream I just pushed it away. Yet felt the same feelings I had before. Then when you guys broke up and you stopped coming in I don't know. I pushed them away again and told myself you were a friend."
"Did Steve tell you why we broke up?"
I dangled my feet into the water as I shook my head no.
"I.. told him I'm bisexual."
I looked away from water and looked act her shocked.
"So he broke you up over that? That's so biphobic —"
"No no."
She moved to sit closer to me and took my hand I had since I did talk with my hands when I got angry. She took my hand in hers as she smiled as I raised an eyebrow.
"No. I told him that and that I .. liked someone else."
"Oh. "
I looked at my lap and felt her lift my face with the hand that wasn't holding my hand.
"You. I told him I liked you."
"Oh?"
"Yeah like I told myself I liked Steve and I did at the time but as time went on .. my feelings for you appeared. I didn't know what it meant so I asked google. And it turned up lesbian or bisexual. And I knew I still liked guys but something told me it wasn't just you. I've had other crushes on celebrities but didn't think anything of it. But seeing you at the ice cream shop I knew I liked you more then a friend."
I gasped as she smiled.
"So when we broke up I told him and that's why I couldn't go back to ice cream shop. Yet when I hit your car at the beginning of this semester and we reconnected as friends I told myself .. being your friend if that kept you in my life I'd have that. Rather then you not in my life at all."
I laughed little at remembering my moms face when I told her my jeep got a scratch from kid backing into mine when she was trying to park her car.
"Oh. I guess this is why it's called Lovers Lake huh?"
Now Nancy laughed letting go of my face smiling.
"Guess so. God I feel like we are on Dr. Phil now."
"Oh God no please I'd rather do it here at lake instead of tv with millions watching."
Nancy nodded in agreement as I saw the sun starting to set.
Nancy turned and saw it before smiling as she turned back around we were still sitting close and now lips almost touching.

I finished the puzzle piece as I moved connecting our puzzle pieces together. We fit perfectly as we kissed as I felt myself smile in the kiss. Feeling her kiss back made me happier.

We pulled away when we heard cheering and I looked out to the water seeing Steve and Eddie clapping and yelling.

Nancy buried her face into my chest and laughed before moving as I smiled.
"Shut up Harrington."
I said to Steve as he laughed again before splashing Eddie and then they swam to shore.
"So uh you want to go on actual date tomorrow? With clothes on and not two idiots watching?"
I asked as Nancy got off the rock as I followed.
"I'll have to check my schedule... okay checked it yes I'd love too."
