His grey hair flowed aggressively as he cut and wiggled through the ocean water. He spread his web fingers to latch onto a 3 foot long fish, ripping into its flesh while it thrashed to get out of his grasp. He brought it close to him, and bit into it. The blood of the fish floated slowly to the surface where people could view it, he breathed in the water and blood mixture and grinned. He pushed himself through the water with his orange fish-like tail further under water where other creatures like himself roamed. He screeched a high-pitch tune only sea animals could understand. He was told that there were several humans above water, on a ship. These creatures were scared of humans, but not him. 'Bye Alfred', his companion squeaked to him as he swam upward towards the ship of adventure. Alfred reached to the ship, then took a moment to gaze upon the humans. He noticed a blonde sailor in his 20's, which was the age Alfred was. He liked this human, and got closer. He climbed and dragged himself up the side of the side the boat with his sharp claws. He stared at this human from a distance he couldn't be seen at, hiding behind a few ropes and wrecked, old sails tossed aside. After a few minuets the sun went down and most of the sailors went into their cabins, but the blonde sailor that Alfred admired stayed checking if everything was in place and safe. Alfred took this chance and created noise by slamming his tail on the side of the ship wall. The sailor ran over to the thumping noises thinking there was something went wrong, but then he saw Alfred. He wasn't afraid, he heard old tales about Alfred's kind, and in a way already knows about him. Alfred slowly reached for the sailors foot, and grinned creepily with his sharp teeth.
The sailor kicked Alfred off the ship, and yelled at him to leave, "Or I'll put a spear through your skull!"
"I'll kill you if you don't come with me", Alfred frowned and squawked. The blonde sailor didn't understand this language, but Alfred didn't know he couldn't understand. The sailor walked away from the fish-monster. Alfred began to sing in his gloomy, creepy voice, which the sailor seemed to be interested in the song, really interested. He was lured towards Alfred, he climb onto the ledge and jumped off the ship, right in the ocean. Alfred grabbed hold of the human man, and swam downwards and started to drown the him. Alfred watched the other creature's face closely, and gently caressed the side of the man's face. The blonde sailor died shortly after, and Alfred let the corpse go, just letting the body float away. The fish-man swam into a dark deep cave that no one would enter, he stayed in there and cried. He was so depressed he didn't move for days, he just wanted to be alone forever now.
The other mermen and mermaids mocked him for his foolery, "Loving a human is stupid, pull yourself together. You didn't even know that human!" Alfred would tell them to leave, or just ignore them because he was just so drained. He starved himself, and started to mold and decay. He was dead. He died long before his body caught up and rotted away. Love is deadly, love is a fantasy's nightmare.
