I sat in the hospital waiting for what felt like hours. I nervously played with the engagement ring Josh had given me. Josh was diagnosed with stage four cancer just a few months ago. Josh and I have been together for eight years now and were were so in love. We were planning to get married, but it had been put on hold until he got better. The nurse walked out of Josh 's room and made her way toward me.
"I'm so sorry. There was nothing we could do to save him. The cancer finally caught up to him" the nurse said.
I was frozen. I couldn't move. Josh was dead. Josh who I had been in love with for all of my life was dead. Josh who I was going to marry was gone. We weren't goin to get married. We were never going to get the family we planned to have.
From then on, I swore never to live any one again. I swore never to betray Josh. I swore to live Josh and only Josh fir the rest if my life. I would never love a man just as much as Josh.
Too bad I'm terrible at keeping my promises...
