Carrying the two duffel bags in his hands the man walked with me to my room. Opening the door I told him to keep the bags on the floor which he did and left.

Sighing deeply I placed my hands on my hips and took a good look around.

Now that I was sober I could get a proper look at my room. A queen-sized bed with a soft and comfortable-looking duvet, the sun glinting on the marble tiles. It was like a suite.

Plopping on my bed I let out a sigh of content. My life had taken quite a turn in the last fourteen hours. But it solved most of my problems too and I was probably glad about it.

Out of boredom, I decided to explore the mansion; might as well help me not get lost.

I put on my flip-flops and walked out.

I held my hand to my stomach, bothered by its loud growling.

It was my stupidity that I didn't look for the kitchen or the dining hall while I was exploring. But I guess luck was on my side; I found myself opening the grand doors to the dining hall about five minutes later.

My lips parted on their own. In front of me was one of the grandest, most immaculate dining halls ever.

I scanned the whole place with my curious gaze, spotting steaming bowls of soup, beautifully dressed salads, juicy pieces of steaks decorated professionally and blocks of ice creams of every flavour.

I was so engrossed in examining the entire hall I forgot to acknowledge that Clecentine wasn't here yet.

So I decided to wait for her and sat down on the chair timidly, getting anxious by the occasional stares I was getting from the three servers present with me.

While I was busy on my phone scrolling through messages I heard the door open. Snapping my head I looked up to see Clecentine walk in, holding a posture of confidence as she sat down next to me on the head chair.

Her eyes travelled to my face and then the untouched food on my plate.

''You haven't started yet.'' It wasn't a question. She reached for her fork and knife and began cutting her steak in quite an elegant manner.
