In the icy mountains of the arctic, the sounds of wings flapping and griffins roaring can be heard through the icy winds, and we see the Forge. A stone structure with pools of lava dripping pouring from a giant griffin statue into pools of magma, providing warmth in the desolate, icy land. The forge was bustling with activity, griffin younglings meeting with each other as their parents come to drop them off for their first day at Greencrest Academy.
Greencrest academy wasn't set in one large structure, instead, it is set all over, the home of these griffins. This was just the main meeting place for the students and their teacher. The class was relatively small, with only having 18 students in total, each having their own reasons for being here. But, we will only be focusing on one student for this story. As other students gather into small groups of two to three, there is one that just sits at the entrance, a dark brown youngling with a large, bird-like skull with backward-facing horns on his head, and violet eyes. he seemed to just hang back at the entrance of the forge, away from everybody else as he spaced out, focusing on seemingly nothing. Nobody paid any mind to him, and he seemed to be just fine with that.
That's when a hellhound raised himself from the main magma pool, a rumble resonating from his throat as he did, it being loud enough to gain everyone's attention. This large hound had flaming wings, and seemed to be hot to the touch. Though his most interesting feature, was his horns. The flaming hound's front horns seemed to be growing out of his eyes, rendering him blind.
As the students stared up at him, he raised his ears, listening. "...Well? Is anyone there or is everyone late on the first day of class?"
A few students then made themselves known, by either voicing that they were present, or giggling to themselves."Ah, good. Now everyone, gather around so i may get your names, and know of what your powers are." The rather large hound then stepped fully out of the pool of magma, drips of the magma sliding off of his coat and his flaming tail making itself seen. All of the students gather around him as he sits in front of the lava pool, ears still perked and attentive. Almost everyone had gathered around the hellhound, all but one that is.
Archie was still spaced out, the recent events going unnoticed by him. One student noticed this, a white youngling with a red floral pattern along her coat and wings, as roses grew from her back paws, and her vulture-like head having a pair of red antlers as a line of red fur goes down her spine and her tail being wrapped with flowers of different kinds. She made her way over to Archie, her head tilted as she saw Archie's skull, and poked at his head with a talon, making him blink out of his trance and look at her, confused. "Yes? Did you need something?" He asked in a questioning tone. "Well, other than wondering where you got that really cool skull..." She began, now pointing behind her to the group, "Class is about to start. Don't wanna be missing out do ya?" She gave Archie a smile, to which Archie tilted his head at. "Oh, right. Class." Archie said in a dull tone, standing up and walking past the girl and to the rest of the class. She huffed, mumbling something under her breath as she walked with him, probably something about how rude Archie is.
"I'm Flora by the way. Annnnnnd you are?" Flora looked at Archie with a smile. Archie only glanced at her, his face unchanging. "I'm Archie." He speaks in a dull tone, throwing Flora off guard for a moment as they sit down with the group. As class started one thought went through the griffins mind.
'I wonder if mother is back yet'
