Chasleigh meticulously dismantled her signature matching chrome Colt 45s with the Mahogany and Mother of Pearl inlay grips and began to clean them thoroughly.
This job had been her last. As she wiped away any and every possible bit of trace evidence of what they had just been used for, she couldn't help but feel a calm wash over her.
No more late night " collections ", no more taking care of  "loose ends" as her Grandfather referred to them as. And no more worrying that the Feds were on to her...

Just days before she had been in her Grandfather's office where he told her what he was wanting her to do .....

" Chasleigh my dear"' he said in his deep Irish booming voice ... " There is something I need
You to handle, and I need it done right away, fast, clean and undetectable"
"Well you know I'm your girl granddaddy, whatever it or who it is, I will make it go away"  Chasleigh replied , as she crossed the room towards where her grandfather stood looking out of his office window down at the streets below....
"It's O'Malley, he knows to much and I was told by my contact that he has been flapping his gums at that cop bar up town . He is dangerously close to blowing the lid off our whole operation"  Her grand father said with a furrowed brow...
"Say no more Granddaddy , He is as good as gone", but you know this has to be my last job for you" , she said as she stepped away slightly in expectation of his temper to flare as it does when he gets news he does not want to hear..
Surprisingly though he didn't say a word. He just stood there and continued to look out the window...
Chasleigh stood watching him.. As she did she noticed his shoulders slouch down and he hung his head and let out a long sigh.
" I knew this day would come, I had hoped it wouldn't be this soon but I did know it was coming" He finally said as he turned from the window to look at her...
At the moment she realized just how old he looked..
She also knew that his hopes were for her to take over in his footsteps and keep the business going.
She had come to the realization that this may have been what she wanted when she was young but as she aged she began to feel very tired and old...  She had begun to think about a time when this part of her life was over and she was old and her nights consisted of comfy pj's and enjoying a good book or a good movie....

"Yes granddaddy the time has come for me
To hang up my guns, but I will take care of O'Malley first but as soon as it's done, so am I"  ... she said to him as she walked over and hugged him... " I love you Grandaddy but I can't do this anymore, I am feeling my age and sooner or later if I keep going I will make a mistake that may put you and our entire family and the business in jeopardy so it's time for me to bow out gracefully"
" I understand " he said as he looked down at her as he held her by her shoulders...
" Honestly Granddaddy, she said .. " you should consider turning the business over to Jonas Daugherty he has been our most truest friend and confident and could very well handle the task"  Chasleigh said as she pulled away and walked over to look out the window..
"Bite your tongue lass"! Her grandfather growled in his this Irish drawl... " I am not ready to throw in the the towel just yet" he said with a scoff. " Now off with ya " he said as he raised his hands and went back to his desk and picked up the phone receiver...
Chasleigh turned and walked out of his office knowing this may be the last time she will be in it getting her " assignment" from him...
