LANA

Chapter one

May,1999
The rain was beating the roof mercilessly,the sound of the rain and thunder could not silence the screams of Maya. She has been in labor for three days now. The mid wife was very sure the baby was on it way.
Another scream tore through her throat. Valentina the old mid wife started whispering some words into her ears,it sounded like enchantments. Valentina stood up abruptly and placed a hand on Maya's stomach.
" the baby is here" she said with a huge smile "I can feel her energy" she held one of Maya's hands "you can do it, in a few minutes you will hold your baby Maya"
She stood up swiftly,she brought out a little bottle from her bag poured some of the content on her hands and rubbed it on Maya's stomach.
"King of heaven bring this one to us,ma'ri'aka,ma'ri'ka" she kept on screaming Ma'ri'aka. Maya screams tore through the room again then the cry of a baby was heard.
Valentina picked up the baby and placed the child next to Maya.
"She is a girl"she said in a low voice
" my beautiful daughter " Maya said with tears in her eyes, he voice was so thin from all the screaming, she caressed her.
Valentina picked the baby, to wash her up then she noticed two marks on her back. She brought this to the notice of Jake,Maya's husband. It was really strange to see such a mark of a new born. Valentina decided to call the attention of Riya the seer.
Some of the Agapus descendants were given special abilities like seeing visions and prophecies.
Riya got to Jake's house,went straight to the room,Maya was still so exhausted from childbirth but could not rest properly cause of the situation on ground .Riya checked on the baby looked at the marks on her back.
"Valentina have you seen this before?" Riya asked
"No, this is strange"
"King of heaven shine your light a'rika" she brought out her beads, poured them and the floor, she packed them up, she formed a big circle with the beads and placed the baby in the middle,she drank out of the bottle she tied around her neck and started murmuring some incoherent words, her eye rolled back she was shaking and murmuring aloud. Jake held Maya who was crying.
Suddenly the baby's hair began to turn white, her eye balls were shinning gold. Riya fell to the ground and let out a cry.
" the prophecy has been fulfilled" she was crying and laughing at the same time.
She held the baby and raised her up
"Thanks be to the king of heaven"
The baby was asleep now,Jake,Maya and Valentina were waiting eagerly for Riya to explain further. Riya packed up her items and sat on the available chair facing the three
" Maya you just gave birth to a special child,it has been passed down for generations of we seers that a child of prophecy will be born, the the child will have the lost ability of the Agapus " there was surprise written on their faces.
" have never heard about this prophecy before" Jake said looking at his wife " have you ?"
" No" she said in a exhausted voice
" it was kept a secret, your baby must be kept a secret" Riya face turned very stoic and scary. " no one should be told about what has happened here today, it will be dangerous for her and everyone around, I will come in to observe her ever now and then"
They all nodded.
" may the king of heaven protect the new born" she said standing up.
" thank you very much " Jake said
Riya was leaving when she suddenly turned around.
"No ear must hear of this for the safety of this child"
Then she left. Valentina packed up and left Jake carried his baby.
He looked at her beautiful features
"You will be named Lana, my beautiful Angel".
