I was going to be leaving the next morning so Lisa planned a family dinner at her house as a going away thing that she even invited my dad too. Chris picked me up, held my hand the whole way to his moms. We were silent since we both knew this sucked. We barely spent anytime apart the last 2 weeks and we knew it was coming to an end. I was leaving my car in my garage at my house while in New York, Chris's apartment was very close to radio city and I figured if I wanted to go anywhere else I would hail a cab. We pulled into his mom's driveway and I noticed my dad was there already along with everyone else. Chris didn't get out of the car right away.
"Hey, we need to go in." I said and he nodded.
"I know..." Chris said but didn't move.
"Chris?" I asked.
"We go inside it makes it real that you leave in the morning." Chris said and I sighed.
"We knew it was coming, I mean I was counting down the days on my fridge calendar so we wouldn't be too upset." I said and Chris sighed.
"I know but it doesn't matter, it still hurts." Chris said. I placed my head on his shoulder.
"Why don't you come to New York with me? I mean you aren't working right now anyway..." I said and he shook his head.
"Actually I have some things going on here so I can't come right now." Chris said.
"You will be able to come and see me perform at least once right?" I asked and Chris sighed.
"Possibly. I have to see how the schedule goes." Chris said and I groaned. I released his hand from mine and got out of the car.
"Jen..." Chris said following me.
"So were you planning to come see me at all? I mean you make it sound like it was never even a thought." I said and Chris groaned.
"I didn't mean it to sound that way but I do have my own projects coming up. I can't drop everything to just go see a girl I just met in a show..." Chris said and I just stopped and looked at him crossing my arms.
"Excuse me?! Girl you just met?! I thought we established we were a couple?!" I asked raising my voice slightly in shock.
"Of course we are a couple but we did just start dating." Chris said and I groaned. I went to away and Chris grabbed my hand.
"I don't want to go inside mad and fighting." Chris said.
"I'm not going inside yet, I need to cool down." I said walking down the driveway. Chris went to follow me. "Don't follow me." I said and kept walking. I got to the end of the driveway and I heard someone running up behind me.
"Jen, wait." Scott yelled and I stopped. Scott was Chris' brother who I had met the week before when I met all of his siblings already knowing Carly since she was Stella's mom. I waited for Scott and once he reached me I continued walking.
"Chris tell you to come with me?" I asked and he shook his head and sighed.
"No, I came when you didn't come in with him, he said you were going for a walk. What's going on?" Scott asked.
"Your brother is an idiot." I said and he laughed.
"Please elaborate."
"Well I asked him if he was going to be able to come and see the show at some point in time and he said he had some projects coming up and couldn't drop them just to come see a girl he just met in a show." I said and Scott sighed.
"Idiot." Scott said and I nodded.
"Yeah, I mean maybe I'm overreacting but it hurts to know he doesn't care about this. I mean this is huge for me. A dancers dream and I'm living it." I said and Scott nodded.
"Can I let you in on a secret about my brother?" Scott asked and I nodded.
"Of course." I said.
"My brother is an emotional guy, he tries to hide it but when something happens like meeting someone in his life that he had strong feelings for he acts like an idiot. He doesn't think about what he says sometimes about how much it will hurt. He thinks he is the only one hurting since you are leaving not realizing this is a bigger hurt for you." Scott said and I nodded.
"I just wish he would be a little more excited. When I showed him some of the routines I would be learning and I was so excited he just didn't care. I cant be here excited for anything he does but he not care about my life. This relationship needs to be the same on both ends." I said and Scott nodded.
"Want me to talk to him?" Scott said and I sighed.
"If you want. I mean I wish he would just figure it out by himself." I said.
"Sweetie, not to sound rude but if you sit waiting for Chris to figure it out, it may take a long time." Scott said and we laughed. We headed back to the house. Once we walked inside Chris was standing there waiting for us at the door. Before I could fully get in the house Chris pulled me into a hug.
"I was an idiot." Chris said and I nodded looking up at him.
"You were."
"I will be coming to New York and seeing you. I don't know when yet but I will be there, I promise." Chris said and I smiled.
"You better come." I said. We released from our hug and I took my shoes off hugging the rest of the family I saw. I finally saw my dad, he hugged me tightly.
"You and Chris okay?" He asked and I nodded.
"I think its just a lot with me leaving tomorrow morning." I said and he nodded.
"At least I have practice of when I sent you to Julliard." Jacob said and I nodded. Lisa handed me a glass of wine and sighed.
"This is the last wine I get to have for a while." I said.
"Why?" Chris asked.
"She doesn't drink while dancing in a show." Jacob answered and Chris looked confused.
"It's just a personal thing. I mean I know I wont go out on the stage after drinking but I just like to reward myself once a show had wrapped with the best bottle of wine I can afford or find." I said and Chris smiled.
"Well I will be sure to have wine waiting for you on the night of your last show." Chris said and I smiled.
"That sounds perfect." I said and then I looked at Chris. "You never said if the furniture got delivered to the brownstone?" I asked Chris talking about his 3-level brownstone apartment he bought. I thought it was something small but of course not.
"It did, everything is set and ready for you. Your delivery truck with your stuff also got there too and you just have to unpack it all." Chris said and I nodded and ran my hands through my hair. I then downed my glass of wine.
"Hey no panicking." Jacob said as Chris filled my glass again.
"I know, it will be okay right? I mean this is what I wanted...right? God this is a mistake..." I panicked and Chris grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug.
"Hey, no mistake, you deserve this. You are going to be best Rockette ever." Chris said and I pulled a little bit away from him and he leaned down giving me a small kiss. I took a deep breath once we released. I would be okay, just get passed the initial move.

Chris and Jacob took me to the airport the next morning and I was not one for sappy goodbyes like every romcom out there, so I held it together pretty well. Once I got to New York, Chris ordered me a car to pick me up. I smiled as we arrived at the brownstone. I walked in and just stood in the living room.
"I got this right?" I asked out loud feeling so alone.
