THE YOUNG BOY took out a knife that he found in the house panting as he stared at the demon's head the hatchet keeping him stuck to the tree. He was unconscious.

Nezuko tried to calm him down since he was breathing heavily standing in front of the demon with sympathy.

However someone's hands were placed on both Tanjiro and Nezuko's shoulder startling them. They instantly turned around to find an old man with a tengu mask.

"You can't kill it with that." He simply says. "H-How can I finish it off?"

Masumi stared at the man blankly oblivious to what's happening.

"Don't trust what other people say. Can't you solve this riddle yourself?"

The young boy looked down pondering.

If stabbing it won't work... I'll have to crush the head..

Tanijro took up a rock walking over to the demon slightly shaking. No matter how much he wanted to do it he couldn't.

The demon regain conscious noticing the boy in front of him, he began growing at Tanjiro.

The sun was now making itself known. "Oh! While I was wasting time the morning has come."

The sunlight hit the demon burning him to ashes surprising Tanjiro making him drop the rock.

Just a touch of sunlight did that? No wonder Masumi fears it.

He looked around noticing that Nezuko and Masumi was no where near him. He ran towards the house noticing Masumi was inside the basket peeking out at him.

He sighed in relief, going outside to see his sister with the man holding a burial for the victims. After they were finished the man turned to Tanjiro.

"I am Sakonji Urokodaki. You must be the one Giyu told me about."

"Yes. I'm Tanjiro Kamado. My sister's name is Nezuko.  And the girl we've been carrying is Masumi Kohana."

"Tell me Tanjiro, what will you do when Masumi eats someone?"

The boy looked taken back at the question. Urokodaki walk up to him giving him a slap across his face leaving  a mark.

"You think too slowly! You struggle over the simplest decisions. You could never finish off a demon before daybreak. Why couldn't you answer that question immediately? You're too soft!"

The young boy place his hand on the slap mark both siblings listening to his harsh words.

When Masumi eats someone there are two things you must do... kill her then slit your own belly and die! That's what traveling with a demon such as Masumi means!

But it is your sacred duty to ensure that this never happens. Masumi must never take the life of an innocent person! Did I make myself clear?"

"Yes!"

"Very well. I will test you too see if you have what it takes to be a demon hunter." Urokodaki pointed at Tanjiro. "Shoulder the demon girl and follow me!"

Following behind Urokodaki, while Nezuko was having fun running behind him Tanjiro was struggling behind.

"Come on, big bro! Let the cool breeze wash over you!" Nezuko giggled.

Panting, Tanjiro focus on the old man running in front of them.

So fast... And his feet doesn't make any sound...

The young boy could hear the mumbles and scratches of the basket.

Masumi, this'll be rough but hang in there. I promise you I'll make you human again.

It was now sunset Tanjiro was drained while Nezuko was still energetic. He huffed trying to get a few words out.

"So... did we... pass the test?" He pants after each words.

"The test begins now. You will be climbing a mountain." The young boy's blood ran cold while Nezuko still wasn't fazed by it.

When they enter Urokodaki's house, Tanjiro softly place the sleeping girl to lay down on a futon. Nezuko stayed behind with Masumi since her training begins the next day.

Urokodaki left with Tanjiro leaving the two girls alone for now. Nezuko went over to Masumi placing her hand on her head and slowly start to rub her head.

"Masumi, I really do owe you one. For protecting me that night I know you still probably have guilt for not saving the others, I know if I told you it's not your fault you will probably say something like " It is my fault. I don't deserve to be comfort like this." You're so kind Masumi no wonder Nii-chan likes you."The black haired girl giggled a little but her face got serious.

"Your grandmother is probably worried about you since you haven't been home in days. I feel bad she not knowing what happened to you. It's really sad you know." A sad smile formed on Nezuko's face.

The door slide open Urokodaki steeping in he looked over at Nezuko with sleeping Masumi.

"I suggest you get some rest for tomorrow, Nezuko."

She nodded standing up to go to the room Urokodaki assigned her to rest.

Many hours have passed as Urokodaki waited for the young boy to be back.

The sun began to rise as his door slid open revealing a exhausted Tanjiro.

".... Made it.... back...."

He clasped immediately falling unconscious. Urokodaki stared at the boy finally accepting him and his sister as his new students.
