It was a nebulous night, as a human Kat arrived in town. She was very aware of everything going on, even though she'd never stepped foot here before. That didn't mean she didn't know the most famous family, though. She'd never really been around his wife, but she knew him and his daughter when they'd lived in New York. That was another lifetime ago when she'd still been a vampire, though. Now, she had active Traveler magic. She was human since the cure had been shoved down her throat. And she'd lost her daughter. She needed to distract herself, much like Damon always did when he got hurt emotionally, or lost people he cared about. She and Damon were the same. They both needed a distraction when things like that happened to them. And so, here she was. She'd left one small town to come to another one. One she'd heard was darker than Mystic Falls. She wouldn't say more dangerous though, because humans couldn't be more dangerous than vampires. Or even werewolves and hybrids. Witches could be another story as far as she was concerned, though. They could be the kindest people, or they could be the most dangerous ones. She hadn't seen either of them since his daughter had been a kid, but she'd always had a sort of bond with her. She hoped it could be almost the same as before, even though she knew she had to be a teenager now. And she knew what troublemakers they could be.
Katherine was walking, avoiding all the random crimes happening, heading for where she knew the Lodge family lived. She stopped though, spotting a scene and a familiar vehicle. Normal circumstances, she'd let fate take its course. But she couldn't do that even if she wanted to, because not doing anything she knew, would be like doing that to him herself. And she knew Nadia had wanted her to become a better person, so she knew she had to help, even if she didn't exactly want to. After all, she knew the way he lived, when he died one of these days, he'd be ending up in hell. For humans, she was pretty sure it existed. And if it did, she hoped being a better person would bring her out of the dark path she'd been on for several years. And so, because Nadia had wanted her to become a better person, had believe that she could, she approached the alleyway, before leaning against a wall.
"Do you know how much I despise humans that hurt or kill others?" she inquired, acting for the moment, like her old self when she'd been a vampire.
She gave a smile at them, when they looked at her. Then she walked towards them, as she magically gave the three of them migraines when they stopped to look at her.
When she was in front of them a small distance, she told them, "I hope you three get a one trip straight to hell." Then she magically killed them.
She walked around them to approach where he lay. Normally, if someone was good or she cared about them, she would've tried to see if she could heal, since she didn't know how to, but he wasn't either of those. Not anymore. She cared as a vampire, because they were so much alike. Now that she was trying to do better, she didn't much care. But she wouldn't leave the girl's father to die, much like die like this.
"Looks like your life is catching up with you now," she stated to him. Then she called for some help for him.
Twenty minutes later, she was inside where they lived.
"It's been a while. You were still a child at the time."
"A very naïve one, at that. What are you doing here? This is a long way away from Mystic Falls, Virginia."
"I felt it was time that I came back. And I heard what has been happening here. I thought I could help. I'm no longer a vampire, but I can still help."
"How can you help?" she wanted to know. After all, she knew that Katherine always had plans up her sleeve.
"Well, I have magic. I can do pretty much anything. And I have some vampires still that will help me with anything I need," she replied. "But first things first. I should probably tell you that your father put himself in the hospital. I magically killed a few criminals, but he's there."
"I'll let you help me then. As for daddy, we're on the outs. He's been digging his own grave, so whatever happens isn't my responsibility anymore."
Kat sat down on the couch.
"Well, I can't say I blame you for that. My own father was half your father, but also half drunk. Not the best father. Let's just say, there's a reason I've always said that Klaus and I are alike. I gotta admit though, I'm partly here to distract myself. The cure for vampirism was shoved down my throat, which turned me human, and then I was reunited with my daughter my father tore away from me, only for her to get bitten. I could've asked for Klaus' blood, the cure, but I honored her wish that I be happy instead of having to give anything up to save her, so she died for good. Now, I'm here to help any way I can. For you. It'll be a great distraction for me," she replied.
She couldn't say anything to that really, not knowing what it was like, so all she said was, "As you've always said, let the game begin, then."
"Exactly," Kat replied with a smile.
Many weeks later, she succeeded in helping Veronica and taking down the criminal activity in the whole town, using every ability and intelligence she had. She even helped to put him in jail after he got out of the hospital, and she replaced everyone at the prison so that he had no one on the inside to help him. So, everyone pretty much lived much happier lives, having a much cleaner town thanks to Katherine.
