Cold air brushed against my cheeks. The busy city life bustled around me. I looked at a woman, she looked concerned. And a man, who seemed joyful. What were they thinking? Maybe the woman was late for a job interview, and her spot was gonna be taken if she didn't hurry. So that's why she pushed past me as if I didn't exist. On the other hand, the man had just gotten a raise. So he was going home to tell his wife and children. But I, well...
"I want to go home."
I said it quietly, nobody could hear me. At least I thought nobody could hear me...
"Senpai!"
And then the peace was ruined.
I turned around in what I thought was a manner that fit the situation. I tried to look bored, but Kirishima always found a way to make me smile. He always seemed so motivated, just like Mirio. In fact, they acted a lot alike. Though I'd prefer Mirio's company over Kirishima's any day.
"Senpai!" Kirishima panted, breathlessly. "Wait up!"
"What is it Kirishima?" I replied impatiently, and somewhat boredly.
"You said yesterday we'd walk together to Fatgum's!"
"I don't recall ever saying that." Though I remembered saying that, actually I remembered saying it quite well.
"Well you did!" He paused suspiciously. "You always do this..."
"I don't know what you're talk—"
He cut me off.
"Are you lying so that you don't have to walk with me!?"
I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not.
"No, Kirishi—"
"Uh-huh!"
I sighed. My only option was to be the bigger person and turn away. So I did, and I kept walking.
"So, Senpai!" Kirishima asked happily, despite our previous bicker. "How are you today!"
He seemed like he was stating this, rather than asking a question. But I answered anyway.
"Fine," I added quietly, "until you came..."
Kirishima made a squeaking noise. Was it of delight? Maybe it was of surprise? Who knows? He was Kirishima, after all...
