Ebisu Ken and Bell Kaishi had been friends for as long as they can remember. Though in a few weeks they would become brothers when Ken's mother and Kaishi's father would get married. The boys were overjoyed.

But today, they're again in the kindergarten that is adjoined to the company their parents work at.

Ken was currently collecting a bunch of toys to present them to Kaishi. The poor blonde had gotten his quirk yesterday and accidentally rusted his favourite toy so much it disintegrated. He's been refusing to touch anything since then. Didn't even give his father a hug out of fear of hurting him.

But fear not! His redhead of a friend was there, determined to help him. So here Ken was, dumping a bunch of toys on the table, right in front of his brother-from-another-mother, all while ignoring all the other kids crying from stealing their toys. That boy was on a mission and he made it everyone's problem.

After spreading the toys out, Ken put his small fists on his hips and proudly smiled up to Kaishi. "There. Now you can choose a new toy!"

"Isn't that Nana's?" The blonde pointed at a pink bunny. He was sure that it belonged to the two year old, who was currently screaming her lungs out.

Ken though looked bored to the side, little finger in his ear to emphasis how much he didn't care. "Ah, it is?"
Kaishi released a heavy sigh. They were only four years old, yet he felt himself age at least 17 years every time Ken pulled something like this. (He was sure it would be more if he could count higher.)

He didn't want to touch any of those toys, not wanting to destroy them. "Please give the other's they toys back."
This time, Ken let out a loud groan. "But why?? There's a lot of loot you can choose from! It's perfect!" He crossed his arms with a pout.

Kaishi too crossed his arms, but with an annoyed look on his face. "Because they're crying without their toys! It's annoying." Ken thought for a second. The blue eyed boy was right. The crying was kind of annoying.

So with a determined nod, he picked the toys back up that he stole and brought them back to the other kids, every time saying: "Stop crying, you're annoying Kai."

When he got back to the table, there was one remaining toy, a little robot. "You can have it."
Kaishi was unsure. What if he destroyed it? "But it's yours..."

Ken sat down and shrugged. "Eh, I don't want it anymore, so take it." That was a lie. He loved robots, but he wasn't about to tell that to his best friend! He just lost his favourite toy and was in need of a new one.

Kaishi slowly uncurled his arms and reached for the robot, his orange eyed friend watching with anticipation and-

Just before his fingertips could touch the toy, the building started to shake. Everything came to a halt, the kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hozuki, wondered if it was an earthquake. Though, the shaking was only short.

It wasn't even a minute later the shaking resumed, this time stronger. Explosions could be heard and that was when Ms. Hozuki realised that that wasn't an earthquake. But the shaking was so strong, barely anyone could stand.

"Everyone under the tables!" Chaos broke out. The children to scared to move, crying where they last stood. Ms. Hozuki was struggling to bring everyone under a table. She turned around to grab more children, when she saw that most of them where already under one, being led there by Ken and Kaishi.

Ken was carrying little Nana, while Kaishi, forgetting his quirk, had two other kids on his hands, without any accident. "Please stay where you are. Don't come out unless I tell you to. Everything is going to be fine." The young teacher at least hoped it would be...

She was on her way to the door, towards the window to see what was going on, when it happend. Due to all those explosions and shaking the building came down.

The heroes arrived too late. The whole building was down. The chances of anyone serving this where close to none. But they still started to dig through the debris, to see if a miracle happened.

They had been digging for nearly two hours, when some of the rubble started to move. Not sure if the movement came from them removing the debris or if someone was actually under there, which was highly unlikely, they moved a bit back.

But what they didn't anticipate, was some of the rubble to rust away, making an opening. And what they definitely didn't think would happen, was for a few children to come out of it. One child, blonde and covered in dust, was helping the others to get out.

The heroes immediately went to get them, asking questions if more of them where under there.
The blonde boy nodded. "My friend...uhm..his quirk appeared for the first time, he's holding the tables up..."

The adults could clearly see that the children where in a lot of shock, so they guided them towards the ambulances. Everyone but Kaishi followed. "I can't go yet! Ken is still down there!" He was struggling a lot, trying to stay and wait for his brother.

A police officer grabbed him by the shoulders and made him look at her. "The heroes are going to get your friend out, but we need to check you for injuries, so please come with-"

"No!" He tried to shake the lady off, but she had a tight grip on him. "They can't do anything! If they could, we wouldn't even have been there!" The police officer looked at the now crying boy with a heartbroken look.

"I promise they will get him out. And when they do, he will be in the ambulance right with you...I promise." She knows she shouldn't promise something like this. But she had to get the boy checked out.

While this was happening, the heroes looked through the opening and saw a red haired boy, struggling to hold the tables over him, while a little girl was hugging him, not daring to let go.

Firefighters came to the opening in full gear and secured the rubble and tables, so that the heroes could get the two kids out.

The moment Ken noticed the pressure of the tables vanish, he collapsed to his knees, hugging Nana close to him. He could never stand her, always crying and screaming, but right now, he was just so glad she was still alive. Her sobbing comforting him.

One of the heroes helped guide him from the opening around the debris surrounding them. The moment he was out, paramedics surrounded him and Nana and put them in a shock blanket together, since the two year old still refused to let him go, and they where picked up and brought to the ambulance Kaishi was already in.

The blonde wanted to jump up and embrace his best friend, but he could see how exhausted the redhead was. Which is no surprise, Ken had used his quirk for the first time, and that for two hours straight.

Ken passed out due to quirk exhaustion on the way to the hospital. Inside the hospital, while Ken was sleeping in a bed, Nana curled up next to him, a police officer talked to Kaishi and asked for their names, so they could find some of their families.

In the end, Nana and the other two kids got picked up by relatives, while both Ken and Kaishi had to stay inside the hospital for one whole week.
The two boys though had to be taken away by a social worker, since they didn't have any family left.

Their parents, like everyone else, passed away during the villain attack.

So now, both Ken and Kaishi stood in front of an middle aged lady at an orphanage, this place now being their home for indefinite time.
