Is it just me? Is it just me or do you also get that feeling? That one feeling after a memory? It's like a dream, but then again it all feels real... A memory you've never experienced yet it felt so close and familiar? Is it just me or can you feel it too?
The bright sunlight beams through the window and shines light upon the small room. Raine slowly opened her eyes before bringing herself to a sitting position. She took a sharp breath, pain suddenly shot through her back and up to the neck. It was dead silent. Raine looked around the room to find that her sister had left probably hours ago. She was only left with Hail, lying comfortably on the other side of the bed. Raine got up making her way out the door as quiet as possible.
"Mom? Dad? Shaiya?" She called out, but to her dismay there were no replies. Raine continued to walk the narrow hall leading to the bathroom. Her finger gently flicked the switch, making her jump to the sight of her own reflection. "Goodness me! I look like I haven't taken a bath forever!" She chuckled, raising her arm as she sniffed herself. "I think I really needed to take a bath." Raine thought, stepping in the bathroom.
Her eyes continued to lock with that of her reflection as she slowly got closer to the mirror. Her fingers trembled as she skimmed the mirror over, looking at her bruised face. She leaned in closer only to notice her jacked up face, covered in healing cuts and dark bruises.
"Raine?" She said to herself still facing the mirror. "Who are you? Who am I?" Raine huffed, letting out a deep sigh. After a quick shower, she decided to slip on a casual jean and white shirt outfit.
Hail was already scratching through the door when she finished taking a bath. "Oh my poor baby! You must be hungry, aren't ya?" Raine smiled, as the dog nuzzled up against her.
She squeezed Hail even firmer, carrying the dog to the kitchen. As she was pouring dog food on the bowl, a sudden throbbing headache interrupted, making her lose her balance. Raine dropped to the floor, fortunately Hail's thick fur coat caught her head in time. Panic surged throughout her body like a lightning bolt, electrifying every nerve.
A sequence of blinding flashes of lights made her vision impaired and eventually forced her to close her eyes. Just as the flashes began to settle down, she felt a sharp sting to her heart followed by a loud blare. Raine couldn't believe it, a large truck was sliding its way through her. Then a flash of light blinded her already impaired vision due to the heavy rain.
"Bleu!" She screamed unconsciously, only to find herself jolting up from the floor where Hail was cuddling her.
"What was that?" She breathed heavily, catching herself covered in sweats. "Hail? Hail!" Raine cried, clutching the dog against her chest, feeling calm for the first time in a while. "Oh baby! I don't know what I'd do if you weren't here."
As if it understood her, Hail whimpered in rhythm to her fast pacing heartbeats. The furry baby gently placed its paw around her.
Raine stood slowly, the dog still in her arms as if like a comfort blanket consoling her to calm down. She went back to her room, still dazed by the dream. "Or was it a dream? Do we just dream in the middle of the day, wide-eyed awake? Or was it more of a vision?" Raine countered, shaking her head of exhaustion. She began huddling herself in a series of blankets in a small ball. A wave of frustration knocked her off into a sweet slumber, temporarily getting away from her troubles. Oh if it was that easy...
Raine was then woken up by a loud knock on the front door, followed by Hail's loud barks. "Coming! Who is it?" She mumbled, wobbling in disorientation.
"Open the door. It's me, Lara!" The voice resounded, loudly.
"Lara?" Raine tested, greeting the lady behind the door. "Oh! Wait, wait!" She immediately recalled, pulling the door with delight.
