Beautiful birds chirping, matching the sound of lovely screams in the background.

In the underground it's normal for someone to get robbed. Everyone is starving, in pain. Wanting a way to be free. To be happy.

So why not fight for it?

Maya was 5 years old, she didn't know stealing was a bad thing. Her parents taught her to steal, so they can live, plus she loves her parents.

They taught her everything, gave her everything. So she doesn't doubt them, their ideas are always perfect. No flaws. She doesn't want to ruin anything.

Sunlight shined through her window, waking her up. She got off the small cot she was given, and she grabbed her stuffed toy, and sat down on the floor, waiting for her mother to give her morning mission and kisses.

Some time had passed and she was confused. She walked into her parents room, not finding them. She figured they went to get food themselves. 'Of course, they wanted me to rest'.

Maya thought of an idea, she wanted to surprise them with some fresh cold water when they came back home. She put on her brown shoes that had a hole where her big toe is. She had always loved those shoes, and thought of them as good goodluck.

She opened the door, ready to start the day. However she was greeted by a sharp smell of iron hitting her small nose. The 5 year old, disgusted, looked down.

Two bodies were laying there, flies surrounding them. On the left, a body was identified to be a woman, strands of her golden brown hair were ripped out of her scalp, half of her face missing. Leaving her skull and her teeth to show. Crisp blood dripping where her right eye should be.

Turning to her right she saw a familiar man, her father, only his head laying there. His eyes bloodshot, and a dry tear on his pale cheek.

She realized her parents' dead bodies were laying in front of her. The small girl bent down to where her father's head rested. She grabbed the foul smelling head and crawled to her mother's body.
Her father's head resting upon her lap and her hand holding her mother's.

"I'm sorry"
_____

It was dark and itchy, the cloth was bothering her soft face. It happened so quickly.

At evening, she decided to go get some flowers for her parents, but then she was grabbed by a strange man and was thrown into a large brown bag and was put in a cart. The man had said not to make a sound, and that's what she did.

She felt the cart stop, and heard faint talking, both voices belonging to men, one of them being her kidnapper.

She wanted to scream for help, but somewhere deep inside her gut said not to. A few minutes had passed and the cart continued moving, she felt uneasy as she felt the cart rising upward.

Then she heard her kidnapper talking, "Are you alright kid?"

Maya couldn't help but feel frustrated.
She thought that was a stupid question to ask but she still  replied, softly she said, "Yes"

A sigh of relief escaped from the strange man. "I'm glad, sorry if I grabbed you roughly."

"It's okay," she said quietly, and peeked out of the bag. A bright light shined on her face, making her look away.

It took a while but she got used to the light, she realized that she was no longer underground.

She heard noises, a chirping noise to be exact. She guessed it was birds. An older boy, he was 15, had told her about those animals. He would say how a girl with reddish hair grabbed a small bird to nurse it. She remembers the name of the girl, her name was Isabel. There was a rumor that she escaped to the outside.
