~3 days later
" Maybe next time." the woman behind the desk assured with a warm smile.
" Sure. Thank you for your time."
Aurora tried to sound as genuinely appreciative as she could but she was too physically drained and tired to even attempt it.
She walked out of the umpteenth building she had visited , all hope shrivelling into nothing but dust and ashes which at the point were being blown away by the wind of her exhaustion into nothing but hopelessness.
But she knew she had to suffer in this scorching heat if she wanted to still have a roof over her head in the next four days.
That didn't seem much likely at this point since she had failed to make the cut on most of the jobs since she was underage , understandable.
While some some mentioned that the vacant jobs had already been booked , now that's un-understandable.
How do you book a publicly vacant job?
Through corruption.
If she ever got the chance to go back to school , she was sure to become a lawyer and one day sue these unprofessional crackheads.
She wiped off the beads of sweat forming on her forehead with the back of her hand before hailing a taxi which had just popped out from a corner.
" Why not just put it in the damn advertisements : We're hiring but the job's already taken." , she huffed , "Misguided motherfu-"
" Hey!"
Aurora turned to see who had just interrupted her rantings just as the taxi pulled up before her.
She blinked as she stared at the girl , definitely her age , eagerly awaiting a response.
Well , this was the worst time for Aurora to make conversation with anyone seeing just how she basically hated socializing and the fact that she feared her anger and annoyance would just explode on the clearly nice girl who hadn't wronged her in the slightest.
" Hi." she replied with no emotion whatsoever , not because she didn't want to but because she was severely tired and just so she could get rid of the slowly becoming awkward silence.
" Were you here for the job too?" the girl asked.
" Yeah."
" Oh. I'm guessing you didn't get in because they thought you were too young?"
" How did you know?"
" They told me the exact same thing." she said with a drawl while facing the ground , her cheerful demeanor breaking into one of sadness before jump-starting back to life with her next statement.
" No matter! We'll just try again somewhere else! I bet'ya there's a thousand jobs waiting for us out there! We just need to start searching!" she announced while interlocking her arm with Aurora who nearly grimaced at the iridescent and excessively cheerful aura surrounding the girl.
" Sure."
" Hey , do you mind if I hitch a ride with you on your taxi?"
Aurora didn't know why the girl was asking her , it was public transportation after all.
" Absolutely not."

The two girls got off the taxi at a newly opened bank which was looking for new cashiers , all from the age of sixteen with no qualifications whatsoever. Just as long as they were literate and could understand mathematics.
