Y/n walked through the doors of Philly's public school for the first time in a month. A lot went down in that month, and a lot had left. So much left in that month, by the time she came back, she wondered if there was much even left in her? Was she still the same girl who went here last month? Or something different?

It was the latter. She knew better, the sun told her. As the girl walked through the door scanners, it erupted. "Is it your books again?" The man groans, Y/n had always had some strange metal lined outdated book in her bag. She nods, with a sigh. "Just go." He sits back, noticing the full yellow figure in his heat scanner screen. Must've been another malfunction. Must've been.

The sun told Y/n to know better. To be faster, smarter, to know when someone was watching her.

Freddy stumbles in with his brother, foster family not far behind. Darla pipes up immediately, "Y/n! Freddy Look!" She smiles, He glances up. "No way- Hey- Y/n!" He unclasps his hand and waves. The girl turns, with a wave of her own. "Hold on! Wait up!" The group hurries through the scanners. "Who's Y/n?" Billy leans to Eugene. "Freddy's friend." The boy continued playing Mirrorverse on his phone, "Freddy has friends?" Eugene shrugs. "Friend. One. She was gone for like a month. Something about court stuff." Billy looked over to the girl waiting in the Hall.

A light blush appeared on his cheeks, though quickly shaking it off. Freddy limps over to Y/n, with a smile. "When were you able to get back?!" He asks, Just as Billy joined them she moved her thumb behind her. She was doing sign language."They need to fix our court systems. Seriously I mean how long did it even take for them to override it?" Y/n shakes her head awkwardly, 'we met in middle' Freddy tilts his head, "What?" Billy coughs, nudging his foster brother.

"Oh- uh yeah- this is our new foster bro. He showed up like 3 weeks ago. When you were gone." Y/n nods, "This is Y/n, their mute. We were friends before you showed up." Freddy explains. Y/n quickly signs to Freddy, asking for his name, which he so graciously forgot. "Oh uh Billy." Y/n nods. "Hey." Billy says, before being interrupted by Darla rushing in and hugging her.

"Oh my god! We missed you so much! Freddy was so lonely- and then guess what?! We got a new brother! He's the best!" Darla explains, 'Oh really?' Y/n signs, She nods. "Billy, do you know any ASL?" Darla turns, "Uh- no. Sorry." He glances up to Y/n. Who shrugs, seemingly not caring. 'You want interpret?' Darla opens her mouth to scream yes when Freddy does it first. "Me! I'll do it. I'm gonna interpret." He tells Billy. "What! I wanted to!"
"You can do it next time!" Freddy says, looking at Y/n who begins signing. "She says that she usually uses notes to talk, and we just wanted to learn ASL. Yeah it's actually a really interesting language. Rose used to practice with us every Thursday. But she has these sticky notes she uses."

The bell rang, leading to Y/n throwing their hands over their ears. Before flipping off the school alarm. Putting their hand out, charading that it was loud to Billy. "Almost as loud as Freddy snoring." Freddy gasps, Y/n nods immediately. "It's okay Freddy, I don't mind." Darla pats his shoulder. "You know what- whatever! You sleep with socks on!" Billy shrugs, "so what?" "Guys, it's class time! And Y/n might've forgotten where her classes are!" Darla says, Y/n waves her hand, quickly signing no. "Y/n come sit with us at lunch." Freddy adds, as she walks away. Finally giving a thumbs up before leaving Billy's view.

"Hey- wait. Why are you doing that? Why are you looking at her like that?" Freddy scrunched his eyes. "What? Like what?" Billy's voice got higher, commonly happening when he lies. "No-no you cannot like my best friend! I'm not being a third wheel at our sleepovers." Freddy complains, "What? No, I don't like her- you're crazy- insane." Billy huffs, "Let's go Darla." "What?" Freddy glares as the two ditch him in the Hall, before hurryingly catching up.

Billy slaps his tray onto the table, next to Freddy. "I don't like her- okay?" Freddy stuffs a fry in his mouth, with a scowl. Before lighting up the moment a female figure came into view. "Y/n! The lady of the hour." She sits down, almost slowly. "Soo, you free after school?" He adds. She nods, "Great! You should sleep over again! We got an Xbox- and a playstation- and a switch." Freddy brags. She smiles, digging a sticky note pile out of her pocket, she scribbles something down. 'You got smash?'
Freddy smiles back, "Yeah- and we got TombRaiders!" That game happened to be her favorite.
