It was supposed to be a surprise

Over the next few weeks things didn't go quite according to Bucky and Aurora's plan. For one thing they had yet so far got to go on a single date. Or rather not one that really counted towards the wooing he'd promised her. Work had picked up to the point that they were on opposite schedules at the moment. Buck and the others were doing more and more smaller scale missions further and further out of town while she was tasked by Fury along with Pietro to do undercover ones. Thankfully their missions were primarily in New York or DC with them only leaving twice out of the country to go to England and then Spain. She had just about died of laughter at the expression on Piet's face when Nick had told him he needed to cut and dye his long silver hair and grow out his beard as well as work on his American accent. To be able to blend in more he needed to not look and sound so.. flashy and foreign. Hence the makeover and elocution lessons.

Neither her nor Buck were happy with this new schedule and were both becoming more and more antsy as week after week passed them by. So much so that Aurora had talked to Nick as soon as she and Pietro were about to wrap up their latest mission. She'd discussed the need to get a few days off for the team. Namely her and Bucky and preferably at the same time. Fury had seemed very unimpressed that the couple wanted one on one time together, but even he had to admit that they'd all been working very hard this last month. So, approving to give everyone two full weeks of R&R, pending any emergencies. He told Aurora that she and Pietro needed to wrap up the last of the details for their mission and then they all were free and clear. She hadn't told Bucky or the others yet. She wanted it to be a surprise for her man. Besides, she knew Maria or Steve would tell the others when it was time. For now she made plans.

Having missed Valentine's day they didn't get to do more than exchange flowers, chocolates and cards let alone have any kind of romantic sexy time. So Aurora called around to see if any place would help her celebrate the belated holiday for her boyfriend who'd been extremely disappointed she'd been out of town that day. Only one place had said yes. For a price. Having more than enough money, she also threw her name around or rather her parents name to get things arranged by tonight. She knew Buck wanted to do all of the planning and the wooing. But this was the least she could do to help make up for agreeing to take this last mission that extended her work by a week and caused them to miss out on the romantic holiday in the first place. Now all she needed to do was wrangle Piet and head out to arrest Donaldson and his merry band of wannabe government spies. Then they needed to write up their reports and get them turned into Maria and Fury.

After showering Aurora got dressed in today's version of the uniform that she'd been using for the past month. This morning her uniform consisted of a black pencil skirt, a silver colored silk blouse and pointed red bottoms. It wasn't her usual SHIELD issued jumpsuit or even the less formal slacks and button up, but it worked just as well. In fact it helped her to blend in more than stand out. Men saw her and dismissed her as nothing more than a pretty face. The women saw her as potential competition. But she wasn't after the few decent looking men around the offices they were after. Once she had made it clear she was only there to work and used Piet, much to his amusement, as her pretend boyfriend they left her alone. The thinking was, who would want those basic Chad's when she had this handsome hunk at home? Buck hadn't been amused at all by the added relationship to their cover until he saw the usefulness of Aurora having her best friend as a buffer in his place.

Double checking her appearance in the mirror, she clips on the necklace Bucky had bought her. Adjusting it so that it sat perfectly in the hollow of her clavicle. The Sweden princess blue oval cut sapphire was as light as his eyes when the morning sun shone through them when he first woke up. The precious stone was set in a simple fine silver filigree setting reminiscent of the style he grew up seeing from his mother and sister. It was beautiful and perfectly a blend of old and new. It quickly became the most precious thing she owned. Simply because it was from Bucky and as such she wore it every day unless she was working out or training. It was her good luck charm, one she didn't leave the Tower without. It might seem hokey but to her, it was almost as if he was with her in spirit when she was forced to leave him.
