𝘙𝘌𝘋𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘕𝘊𝘠,  𝘈𝘊𝘛 𝘐 𝘗𝘙𝘖𝘓𝘖𝘎𝘜𝘌

you sat under the slides of the play system, hugging your knees close to your chest and sniffling quietly. with glossy eyes, you glanced out over to the blacktop to see all the other kids running after each other and giggling. your forlorn self observed silently as tears began to slip down your cheeks, noting how one of your classmates had scraped his knee, now causing a scene with all the surrounding people.

you glanced down at the bruises littered all over your legs, caused by your naturally clumsy tendencies, and recalled how you had to wobble to the nurse by yourself. it filled you with the kind of despair only a child could feel, and you just hugged yourself, rocking back and forth as if waiting for the feeling to swallow you whole.

why did no one seem to care?

"why are you crying?"

you'd gotten so caught up in your thoughts that you failed to notice the boy who was now crouching down in the mulch beside you, eyes fixed on your teary expression.

you hastily rubbed away the wetness around your eyes with your arm, "n-no reason, sorry..."

he laughed, "what are you saying sorry for? you didn't do anything!"

"oh..."

you were almost tempted to utter another apology, but resisted the urge. the boy moved to sit next to you, his back pressing against the base for one of the slides, and you took this chance to examine his appearance. you didn't recognize him from your class; he wore a bandana around his head, though it didn't stop his ginger hair from hanging in front of his face. he also seemed considerably tall compared to your peers, but he was nice, so you didn't mind that much. you found it funny how he accidentally bumped his head against the metal platform above while trying to get comfortable. his oceanic eyes promptly flickered over to you and he held out his hand.

"i'm ajax!" he grinned.

you were a bit confused by his friendliness, but his smile was radiant and infectious, so you shook his hand, "y/n."

he seemed satisfied by your reciprocation, "hey, wanna come meet my friends?"

"um..." you mumbled. you weren't particularly fond of meeting new people, but this was the perfect opportunity for you to make friends, so you wouldn't refuse. "okay."

"great!" he cheered, grabbing your wrist and hauling you to your feet.

you nearly stumbled, but he straightened you up and began pulling you along to where he'd left his friends. meanwhile, you glanced back to your other classmates as you were taken in the other direction, and though you didn't notice it, a small smile tugged at your lips.

you abruptly bumped into ajax's back and realized he stopped in front of a large tree near the school doors. there was a picnic table sitting beside it, where ajax's two friends were waiting. a gorgeous young girl sat on one of the benches, while another boy sat on top of the table, his feet resting on the unused bench on the right side.
