"It should be about time.." Yamiku mumbled, glancing at the clock. She put down the magazine she was Yareading and made sure it was neatly placed on the coffee table beside her. She stood up, walking towards the bed where her brother and Satsuki were sitting.
"Momoi. Akashi... Akashi-San.." Kuroko mumbled, his eyes fluttering open. He shot up immediately, his eyes wide. "Is the game over yet?" he asked, feeling the consequences of his actions. He put a hand on his head regarding a mild headache.
"The finals will begin in exactly.." Yamiku looked at the clock once again. "Four minutes." Kuroko sighed, feeling a little relief. He didn't want to miss his one opportunity to play against his friend.
"I'm playing in the next game." He spoke firmly, which earned him a worried gasp from Satsuki-Chan.
"Tetsu! You can't do that!" She expressed, a worried look on her face. Yamiku nodded grimly. As much as she admired his team spirit, she couldn't allow him to play.
Seijuro stood up, and with an assertive tone, he said, "Yes exactly. The doctor advised you to rest. Stay here and follow orders."
Kuroko began to rebel. "Yeah but-"
"It's Ogiwara, isn't it?" Yamiku butted in, putting the finger on her chin as if she had to think about it. Kuroko turned to her, nodding slowly.
"We saw him in the hallway. He seems to care about you. Have you been friends for a long time?" Yamiku cooed as if she were teasing Kuroko. The bluenette clenched his fists. Seijuro gave her a warning glance as if he were warning her to stop.
"He gave us a message. He said, "We'll play again soon." Seijuro said in a kind-ish tone. Yamiku rolled her eyes. She was a bit mad that she couldn't continue teasing Kuroko.
Kuroko clenched his blankets, staring at Seijuro with a pleading gaze. "Akashi.. Akashi-San.. Please take the finals seriously!" He begged. Yamiku chuckled but kept quiet because she didn't want to anger her brother.
Seijuro stood up in silence. "Just so we're clear, you don't mind if we crush them?" He asked.
Kuroko nodded. "Yes, it would be much worse if you held back. I'm pretty sure that's what he would say in this situation.." Kuroko responded, looking down at his hands, probably referring to Ogiwara. Yamiku grinned at this.
"Very well," Seijuro said. The Akashi twins walk out of the room followed by Momoi. Kuroko sighed, grabbing the ends of his sheets and pulling them over him as he went to sleep.
A few minutes later, a creak was heard, and the door to Kuroko's room was opened. Yamiku walked in and made sure that her footsteps were light in order to not wake up the bluenette. She stood at the door for a minute, staring at the sleeping bluenette. She sighed and walked towards him. She set something down on the floor next to him. She quickly stood up, fumbling to get something out of her pocket, and then finally pulling out some sticky notes and a pen. She scribbled something down quickly and stuck it on the object that she left for Kuroko. She hurried out of the room, but not without laying a kiss on the boy's forehead. "Goodbye, Tetsu. I won't be seeing you much after the finals." She mumbled quietly. She scurried out, closing the door gently behind her.
After a few seconds of waiting, Kuroko's eyes opened. He glanced over the bed to see what Yamiku had brought him. It was a vanilla milkshake from Kuroko's favorite spot to eat. Or in his case get vanilla milkshakes. He stretched his arm out, picking the vanilla milkshake up and taking the note off of it. It read, "Hello Tetsuya. Here's a milkshake to help you regain your strength." Kuroko smiled warmly, drinking the vanilla milkshake.
"Yami-Chan, I know you're still in there."
.
"To me!" Yamiku shouted, Aoimine quickly passed the ball to her. She turned around but was faced by two boys from Meiko. She sighed, dribbling the ball casually which surprised the Meiko boys. Though, they didn't let their guard down.
"Get out of my way!" She said firmly, not even batting an eye. She brought the ball to her back and tossed it over her head, making them look up. While they were distracted, she ran past them, jumping up and catching the ball.
"Can't believe you two fell for that!" She smiled at them, though her smile gave off an unpleasant vibe and made them feel inferior.
She passed the ball to Aoimine, but Ogiwara intercepted it. He quickly ran to Teiko's basket. "My fault, Aoimine. I guess we should go get the ball back." Yamiku sighed, jogging to their basket. Aoimine grinned, following up on what she was doing. Aoimine quickly went in to block Ogiwara, but the brownette passed him, almost making the shot. But he missed.
"Murisakibara!" Aoimine shouted out. Murisakibara prepped himself for a jump.
"On it!" He dunked the ball into Teiko's basket, confusing Meiko and the spectators.
"Nice dunk, Atsushi." Yamiku smiled at her teammate.
"Geez... I was trying to let you have your moment in the spotlight, but you went ahead and blew it." Aoimine grumbled, leaving Ogiwara confused until Kise commented.
"Yeah, but who cares! Look at the score!" He laughed, walking over to the bench.
"Do you think we could make it 222 22?" Kise asked, putting a finger on his chin. Aoimine rolled his eyes. Yamiku just smirked.
"Dumbass, the game is already over."
"Whatever Aoimichi! You don't have to be such a party pooper!"
.
"From this moment on, we'll be rivals. The next time we meet again will be at the national high school tournament."
"I mean, I get that we're splitting up and all, but you don't have to be so cold about it, jeez." Kise sighed, rubbing the back of his head.
"Not even Seijuro and I will be seeing each other. The Akashi twin duo is no more." Yamiku sighed, glancing at her brother. He returned her glance, but only for a moment.
"Chill out... We just happen to pick different schools." Murisakibara mumbled; though it was still loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Happen too? I think not." Seijuro stated. "There are only a handful of strong schools, but despite our limited options, each of us chose a different school."
Everyone glanced at Akashi, and then at each other. "We are individuals. None of us like being lumped together as the generation of miracles." Akashi spoke. Yamiku could feel Seijuro's gaze on her. She above everyone else hated being considered one of the "Akashi twins," or "Seijuro Akashi's twin sister." She just wanted to be known as Yamiku Akashi.
"If we compete, someone must finish first; and no one is greater than ourselves." He continued. "And because of that reason, we are driven to eliminate everyone who dares interferes with our journey, including each other. We are not driven by reason, but by instinct."
"Save the crappy speech for the finals next year, Seijuro. I don't want to be lumped in with you idiots." Yamiku grumbled, crossing her arms. Seijuro smirked at this.
"Alright then, I'll see you all next year, at the national high school tournament."
