Not Good Enough (James McVey/Connor Ball - Jonnor) (1/2)

Chapter 1 - The Date

Connors POV:

I woke up and stretched as well as I could before climbing out of bed. I looked at my phone and saw a text from my girlfriend, Luisa Hackney. She's a great girlfriend, but I hate to say this but I'm going to have a serious and private talk with her. Something's just not feeling right and it's only good to be honest with your partner. I just hope she doesn't take it the wrong way and be mad at me.

My phone buzzed again and Luisa had sent me another message saying 'hello????'. I smiled and unlocked my phone. As I headed to get myself some breakfast, I replied to Luisa saying 'hi, I was sleeping sorry'.

As I'm eating my breakfast, James walks in smiling at me. 'Good luck on your date today mate' James smiles. I half smile and James looks at me confused. 'You ok Con?' James asks me worried. I look up and ask 'is it good to be truthful with your partner even though the truth may be upsetting?'. James sits by me and slings his arm over my shoulder. His touch feels nice and relaxes me a little. 'It's good to be truthful Con, why what's up?'. I sigh and look at my food 'for some reason, it just doesn't feel right when me and Luisa are dating, I feel as though we should be friends'.

James smiles and says 'I'm sure she'll understand if you just say what you told me'. I smile a little and nod. James then hops up and grabs his cereal before saying 'I'm gonna head the gym soon, so I'll leave at the same time as you if that's ok?'. I smile and nod.

Brad and Tristan then come in play fighting and me and James laugh as Tristan trips up and face plants into my breakfast. Brad is also laughing as much as me and James are. Tristan then looks up at me and says 'right, you're gonna get it now'. Tristan then lunges at me and tickles me. Before I know it, Brad and James have joined in and are trying to rescue me from Tristan.

Joe then comes in and says 'hey, I see you guys are awake'. Everyone then stops and looks at Joe. Joe them laughs at the awkward silence on his own whilst me, James, Brad and Tristan are all holding in our laughs from earlier. Joe then stops laughing and says 'anyway, I came in here to wish you good luck on your date Con'. I smile nervously again. James looks at me and smiles. I feel a tingle run through me. I look back at Joe and he says 'whilst Con is on a date, the rest of you are going to be helping me write the next album.

Everyone smiles with joy and I just frown a little. To be honest, I don't think I have the guts to tell Luisa the truth. I'm too scared to see her reaction. Speaking of girlfriends, I notice Kirstie, James girlfriend, knocking on the door. To be honest, I always feel a little jealous when Kirstie gets to hang out with James a lot. Joe then breaks the silence when he says 'James, do you want to go on a double date with Con and Luisa?'. My eyes widen. James then remembers what I was going to do when he says 'I'm sure Con and Luisa would like a little privacy'. Joe then sighs and says 'why don't you and Kirstie go on a date then?'. James then smiles and nods his head.

As everyone is talking, I let Joe know that I'm going to get ready for my date. I head into the bedroom, followed by James. James then asks me 'if you ever want to talk to anyone about something, then me and the rest of the guys are here to talk ok?'. I smile and say 'thank you, and thank you for persuading Joe not to have a double date'. James then hugs me and says 'that's fine, anyway you get ready and good luck. Let me know how you go'. I smile and James exits the room.

As I'm making my way to meet Luisa, I notice that I get a text from her and it says 'hey, I need to talk to you about something'. I smile and say 'me too, but face-to-face would be easiest if that's ok?'. Luisa replies straight away with 'that's fine'.

I arrive at the restaurant and I see Luisa in a black dress waiting for me. I head up to the table and she smiles a little. I sit down opposite her. Luisa says 'is it alright if I say what I need to say now please as I have been building myself up for this moment?'. I smile and say 'sure'.
