We headed back to the bushes to pick more berries. When I was done, we walked back onto the path. I had Meow in my jacket and berries in my pockets. We only walked about 50 feet when I heard laughter and singing! I ran as fast as I could trying not to drop Mr. Meowgy. I could hear it getting louder! And louder! And louder! I was filling up with excitement and hope that it could be my family, or just some people who could help us and maybe give me directions of how to get out. If they know of course.
Please, please, please... be someone I know or from my family!!!! I was almost crying when I finally got to the source of the noise. It’s not my whole family. It was just my Dad and his iPhone playing music. I was just so happy to see him that I was crying and laughing at the same time. He was too! He was sitting in the middle of a clearing full with spring and bushes of berries.
“I thought that I would never see you guys again!” he exclaimed.
“I have been looking for you the whole day.” I said. “Where are Mom and Kalvin?”
“I was hoping they were with you,” Dad replied.
“No, I haven’t been with anyone but Meow all day.”
“Well, I was with your Mom earlier this morning and Kalvin too. We got split up. I don’t know where they went. I went out looking for food and then when I came back, they were gone. I stayed there for a while wondering and waiting for them to come back to me. After about 45 minutes, I moved on and went looking for them. I got lost and ended up here... with no one.” he told me. His eyes were filling up with tears. “I was worried most about you though, being out here all alone! I didn’t even think about Meow. I needed to know that you were okay. I am glad that you found Meowgy also.”
“I was almost ready to give up. Just stay in this little clearing I had found. Meowgy could tell that I was sad. He gave me a burst of energy to keep looking for you and Mom and Kalvin. I was hoping you would all be together though of course. I am just glad that I have you now to protect me and keep me company.” I saw that he had 2 water bottles. They were empty, but one had a water filter in it. “We can use the filter to clean the spring water to drink,” I told Dad.
“Good idea. Let’s get to it,” he replied. It took us about 10 minutes to fill the 2 water bottles using the filter but, we managed.
“We should get back on the golden path and keep looking for Mom and Kalvin,” I said.
“Okay, let’s go then.” I grabbed Meowgy again and put him in my jacket and let Dad hold onto the water bottles that were now full. We walked out on the path and started walking.
