He doesn't wear gold, everything just has a gold coating. His bracelets dont come off, neither do his earings. They were welded basically onto his body so they are stuck there for good. However, he had everything removed and replaced with something he could remove when he lost his hand. If he couldn't wear something important to him, he wouldn't wear it at all. He did get the two he lost with his hand back. As well as the gold ring, but he put them away and hasnt touched them or seen them since.
A good ammout of Tengens jewelry would have been forbidden as a Shinobi. And as part of getting away, he wore things he knew he wouldn't have been allowed to wear. His headbands? Every fea years he got a new one. Most remained intact and pretty much fine except the one from his last mission. Those are also stored with his bracelets.
Though its not like a part of him died, he did lose a lot and that's something he couldn't realize untill he rid his life of everything he once knew. His uniform, jewelry, swords, everything is put away. Some where safe, some where one day he might find. But untill he has learned to move on it all stays there, untill it wont push him back into over doing it to feel something.
