»How long until you arrive?«, his voice sounded a little bit different over the speaker of your headphones but it still comforted you like it usually did.

Kakucho's voice was soft; manly but soothing. It stirred something inside your heart - made it flutter, yet calmed it down at the same time. »It's not long anymore, just a few stations«, you replied with a small smile creeping up on your lips, when you thought about meeting your fiancé so soon.
The dark night was making you melancholic, as it portrayed itself like an ever-changing, yet never-ending panorama outside of the train window in front of you. Only some street lights enlightened the outside world by disrupting it's darkness now and then. You leaned on the small frame in front of the cold window and rested your head on your hand; your gaze dreamily absorbing the mysterious shadows outside. Knowing that your beloved was on the other side of the phone, you closed your eyes after a while, enjoying the comfortable silence that was lingering between the two of you. Only the shallow sound of Kakucho's breathing sounded from the speakers from time to time.

»I enjoyed the video you sent me«, Kakucho suddenly remarked which made you tear your eyes open again in an instant. You felt heat rising to your cheeks and looked around in the cabin as if the other passengers could have heard him as well. None of the few people were looking at you though. There was an old man, leaning back in his seat seemingly asleep and a fancy dressed lady, calmly reading a newspaper.
A chuckle ringed in your ear and you knew exactly that his signature grin was gracing your boyfriend's lips in that moment. »I know that you're blushing right now.«, he teased you.
»I'm not!«, you murmured but a smile crept on your face and you bit your lip to get rid of it, although you knew very well that Kakucho must have heard it from the way you talked. Hence, you decided to just admit your defeat only a moment later. »You sadist«

»I love making my wife feel loved«, as he spoke these words your grin grew wider. Inside, you were giggling like a little school girl in love. Sometimes, yours and Kakucho's behaviour truly felt like that - being two teenagers in love. There was this childish spark of deep trust and hope that had never left your relationship. »Oh, you're so obsessed with me, aren't you?«, you teased him back.

»I am«, Kakucho confirmed and his tone was filled with sincerity, which made you lose your mind. Your man never failed to surprise you. Normally you wouldn't believe such words from a person, assuming that they were only playing with you, entering your little flirtatious game, but Kakucho was different. He was honest, respectful, and his words were candidly revealing the deep affection he held for you. Since he totally unarmed you with his directness, you felt a little helpless about what to reply at first.

»From your little remark about that video I only got to know that you seem to be obsessed with my body though«, you eventually found an answer and chuckled, knowing very well that he loved you for more than just your looks. As you took a short glance around the cabin again to see whether anyone had heard you, you witnessed that the lady with the newspaper was indeed looking at you. As you met her gaze she only gave you a mischievous knowing smile, before she went back to minding her own business. Again, you felt heat rising to your cheeks.
»I am obsessed with your body. I definitely am. But it's your smile that does it for me, my love.«, the tone of his voice was impregnated with sincerity and affection. His ever so teasing remarks always ended on a soft note and you loved that about him. Kakucho never failed to make you feel loved and appreciated and sometimes, even after all these years, you failed to handle his cuteness. How could anyone as precious as him ever be real?

»Yeah, you were always cute to me, even though I was a troublemaker from the beginning.«, you replied melancholically.
        »I wasn't any better though«, he laughed.
You remembered the old times, back in your teen years when him and you first met.
He was a delinquent, the former number 2 of an infamous gang called Yokohama Tenjiku. You were a girl, who worked part-time at the café in a hospital in Kanto. In the end of February 2006, Kakucho was a patient at this exact place, since he suffered from severe injuries attended with blood loss caused by a gunshot wound. Since he came by the café every day during his hospitalisation to buy himself a tea, you started conversing with him. Somehow, there was a connection between the two of you immediately. He had told you about the incident that caused his injury and the loss of his best friend and hero. Kakucho seemed to be very depressed back then. „It's always me who survives", he had ascertained and you will never forget the pain that had lingered in his eyes as he had spoken these words. Never before had you seen someone with such mesmerising, yet sad eyes.
