Two confident high heeled feet clapped into a modern-day coffee shop. A door opened and a friendly bell jingled with pride. A long line greeted her. She was used to it though. Every day, this coffee shop sells the best coffee in all of Miami. And today, this woman would have her morning brew. Melissa Ramirez was a detective in steamy Miami. Her job never quit. She didn't want it to. She has had this job ever since she first moved to the city and was on two important cases. A Latino man greeted her. "Same as usual, Señorita?" Melissa eyed him in annoyance but then slapped his arm. "Come on now Danny, it's coffee." "And coffee should always be the usual." Danny rose from his slouched position. "Right, I'll go get the sugars." Melissa just received a text from the vibration in her hand. Her brow furrowed. It was from her colleague, Giovanni.

Get to the department immediately, we are screwed. Lieutenant Thorn is mad at us. 🙁

Just then, Danny returns and was holding the drink. "Everything alright Ramirez?" Melissa looked up. "Yeah it will be fine." She grabbed her coffee and proceeded to text Giovanni back.

Don't worry Gio... besides I'm the troublemaker.

Giovanni replied back.

You get him you queen! 😚😚😚

Melissa arrived at department and saw Lieutenant Thorn flipped through case flies. He better not give me a different case. I have been asking for more gang crime and murders since my promotion.

Giovanni walked pass Melissa and said "Be safe in there! He's mad. I think he almost threw his coffee mug at me!" He then returned to his desk in his tight black pants and gold studded earrings.

Melissa walked into Thron's office. "You wanted to see me Lieutenant?" Lieutenant Thorn shuffled and scooted in his seat. "Yes, sit wherever you please." The Lieutenant spoke "I'm giving away your Grandview case to Detective Parks." Melissa glared at him. "You have got to be kidding me Lieutenant." "He can't-, it was supposed to be my case." The Lieutenant pointed an accusing finger. "You made me do this." "I've had to speak with da's office and had to clean up your mess you made in Palms." Melissa tried to speak but nothing came out. "It's in my best interest to keep you where you are and only work downtown." Melissa fought back. "I have been working the downtown for years!" "Please Lieutenant!" "Just one more chance!" The Lieutenant waited for her protests to cease and said "I've made my decision and unfortunately I can't turn back on it now. You will work Downtown. That clear Ramirez?" Melissa gloomy but headstrong replied "Yes sir." "Alright get out of my office."

Giovanni was frantically running out the door and said "Husband emergency pqrrrrt. This man is making me eeek!" Melissa smiled. Giovanni was soon to be a happily married man to his husband Mark. They dated for two years and Giovanni had asked Melissa and her husband Mark for any tips on how he should propose. Melissa suggested at Mark's favorite restaurant while David suggested at the Jets game. Melissa was beginning to question that David set the bar too low on their marriage if football was the most romantic spot to have a marriage proposal.

David, meanwhile had Melissa's daughter, Morgan in a headlock. They enjoyed play fighting and David would let Morgan win in exchange for her going to bed on time. While the house seemed happy, Melissa was not. A certain 32 year old just made it worse. "Mommy!" Morgan squealed. Morgan collided into her mother and almost fell over. "Hello mi hija." "How was school?" "I made a picture of my family!" "Ooo let me see!" Melissa looked at Morgan's picture in adoration. "Mi hija it's beautiful!" David spoke "Hey I tried to call you and you wouldn't pick up." Melissa spoke in an dark tone. "Oh are you pinning it on me?" "You can't do one thing David!" David looked down at Morgan then Melissa. "Take her to her room." Melissa patted Morgan on her butt. "Mija, me and your dad are gonna have a talk." Morgan stamped her foot. "Go. To your room." Melissa became stern in her word. She was not a mom to give into her baby's defiance. Morgan ran off. David spoke again. "She's getting tired of us fighting Melissa." "It's already affecting her mood at school." "Kids who have fighting parents start acting up." Melissa bit her words and simply stated "Maybe if I had a husband that could focus on picking up his daughter instead of selling stuff on Craigslist, then we wouldn't be having this discussion." David rubbed his face. "I'm done doing this with you." Melissa called out "Why can't you be there for our daughter David?" "She's ours and deserves all the love in the world and she can't count on her own father!" David went outside carrying a fine drink in his hand. Whenever he gets scolded, he has a little drink. He's never done anything more but Melissa was sure that she didn't want to be married to fresh in the air making drinker.
