(Mind the delay folks. This is old writing, but I decided to publish it. Expect new content.)

"Miles, Alphys... It's been a while." I stepped forward, getting into the view of the light. "Yes. I am aware. That Frisk has gone missing. But don't worry. I'll deal with this task, while the two of you remain in this lab, solving the problem with this world... nothing here is going to change until this lab gets developed. The two of you can handle this alone."

A moment of silence filled the atmosphere, until Alphys spoke up with a tone of worry and surprise, "Huh? H-Hold on, where have you been?!"

"I've been held captive in... the other world beyond. I can't speak further, and I'm sure you both know. But... my contract had been voided, and my sentence had been ceased." My head lowered.

"We understand." They said in sync.

My soul slightly ached, sensing another nearby. "We are not alone. Let us be on our way. As soon as I announced this, the lab door behind them locked, preventing us from going upstairs. "Guys?! What is going on?" I exclaimed in shock and concern.

"We need to get outta here!" Alphys exclaimed. She was the first to run, then Miles. I quickly gained the lead, though. I dashed into the depths of the lab, sliding and whizzing past dozens of amalgamations. Unfortunately, I got caught up in a bit of an incident...

"Oomph!" My flashlight flew upward as I'm launched back by something. Both Miles and Alphys' footsteps fade away as I come to my senses. Thanks to the brightness of the flashlight, I can see a shadow venturing toward me. An unusual one.

I leap up onto my feet and face the distorted being of an amalgamate, the world stops spinning and I can finally make out its appearance. It's something mixed with a... bird and an entity of some sort. It looks aggressive by the incoherent sounds and posture I manage to decipher. This fight won't end peacefully if I even try to spare it. Even if I could, I wouldn't have much time, more would be coming! "It's on, then!" I exclaim, wielding my real dagger. My soul projects as a second shield to my heart.

First, I decided to ready myself for a heavy attack by acting a bit... bold and careless. Something I'm always good at. Maybe I should hurl an insult at it, that always gets me hyped up. "You distorted shit!" I yell at it. It amalgamate seems very annoyed, and it even lets out a loud screech that echoes throughout the entire labatory

The amalgamate throws several punches at me that drip off a few... weird liquids. Probably acid. I manage to spin around the attack and lash back out at it. My real knife glints with the determination stored in my soul. It's ready to unleash its wrath. Soon as it winds down, for the time being, I take my turn and get ready to release hell on this thing. After getting in a stance, I swing my heavy dagger at the amalgamate and completely miss it, staggering forward. The amalgamate had dodged the attack. I then quickly recover and manage to slice through the amalgamate completely, sending its acidic white blood everywhere. Just when it splashed, I managed to get out of the way.

My flashlight remained in the firmness of my hand. Far back, Miles and Alphys managed to keep up. After a while of what seemed to be endless running, I lunged into the examination room. Alphys flipped a couple of switches on the control panel and the laboratory lit up, causing all the amalgamates to disappear.

Everyone exhaustedly strode over to a seat and slung themselves onto it. Alphys sat on the sofa in front and Miles leaned on the armrest. The three of us began conferring about the overworld.

"So, if I'm correct, we're trying to find a way out..." Miles said.

"Honestly... where the fuck are we? Can everything go back to normal?"

"The final maintence room," Alphys began after taking a deep breath to calm down. She wasn't letting the stress get to her like Miles was. "we're near the end of the lab. After that, umm... the Amalgamates will get unstable and violent. You have to go on your own to save Frisk. Maybe Miles can go, too.

"We have to be smarter than this. Chara, you're not strong enough, so I'll go!" Miles said, standing up.

"What?! Not strong enough?! Shut up, that's my best friend!" I jumped in, standing up in anger.

"I know Frisk more than you!" Miles yelled back, sharing the same anger as me.

"Who cares anymore?"

I take a deep breath and exit into the dark, cool, hollow clearing of the laboratory and raise my flashlight. The mechanical sliding door's thud can be heard behind me. Alphys was right—this is the end. There is no turning back while we're so deep. Not even she knew how deep her own place was, and to be frank, I'm quite lost in my own... self.
