Not a day goes by when I don't think about her. The first time I saw her was during a contest. All I could think was her beauty, her green hair, her red horn, and her white dress. All sparkling as she performed with her trainer. Yes, i'm talking about the Pokemon Gardevoir. She was beautiful, and I promised that when I grew older and became able to be a trainer myself, I would capture her and make her my companion.
But...At that time...I was young and so naive...how could I have noticed I made a big mistake...
I'm one of the many few that happen to live in Little root town in the Hoenn Region. It's been around for quite a while and it's grown, more houses, more people, more workers. It's still a small town though and I was on my way to the professor's building cause I kinda work for the guy.
"Professor, i'm here for my assignment", I said as I walked in. I called that out because ever since I was a kid, I was one of his assistants but I always referred to myself as his apprentice. i know that its not the correct term since i don't want to be a Pokemon professor but apprentice sounds cooler to me.
"Ah, sorry Daniel, you just missed him", said one of the other assistants
"Oh, okay...do you happen to know where he went?"
"I think he said something about going to study some Pokemon one-on-one"
"oh no..."
"yup..."
I dashed out of the building and ran out towards the grassy areas. The professor was never really good at studying Pokemon one-on-one by himself When i made it to the entrance of the town, there he was cornered by a poochyena...again.
"D-Daniel, there you are, there are some Pokemon in some pokeballs in my bag, get them out and help me!"
I couldn't help but laugh a bit at him, cornered by the pooch, but I guess there's no helping it. I suddenly got a flashback of something similar happening almost like deja vu. Last year, another trainer used to live in this town and right before he was setting out, he also had to save the professor. I shook my head and I go towards the bag. I throw out one pokeball and out comes a Torchic. I was so excited, it was my first Pokemon battle. Then it hit me. Oh crap...its my first Pokemon battle. My excitement slowly turned into a panic, I had no idea what I was doing.
"Nice Choice!, the moves she has are ember and scratch",Professor Birch yelled out to me. Something tells me he noticed my panic.
"Got it! Torchic use ember!", I said strongly. Torchic does as I commanded but the poochyena dodged it
"Go Professor, while it's distracted!"
"Right", he says as he runs over and picks up his bag.
"Ready Professor?", I say to him as I glance at him and he gives me a nod, "Ready Torchic?", I say as I look to her and she chirps and nods. "Okay...", I said as I took a stance. Poochyena must've thought something was gonna happen because he took a stance as well. "GO!", I yelled out and Torchic, Professor Birch and I took off running into town and I smiled as I looked back at the dog-like pokemon as it tilted its head in confusion. We got away safely and took shelter in the professors building.
"Nice job out there Daniel, on a scale from 1 to 10, I give you a 5", Professor said smiling,winking and holding a thumbs up.
"Hehe, that doesn't really make me feel better Professor", Torchic and I both sighed together.
"Okay but I guess this is a start", Professor said
"A start? For what?", I didn't know where this was going
"I want travel around the region freely but as you can see i'm not that good at it, and to be honest, I don't have the coordination to be a skilled trainer, but i think you can do it"
My eyes widened in surprise, I couldn't believe what was happening
"R-Really? you think so? I mean I didn't know what to do out there"
"That's because it was your first Pokemon battle, everyone is nervous their first battle, all you need is this" he pulls out a small device "this is a pokedex, it tells you all the details about Pokemon you catch, even their moves"
I sighed "okay...I admit that I panicked just because I didn't know the moves of Torchic"
"Well here you go then", Professor said as he tossed the Dex to me. "Also take these", He pulls out 5 pokeballs "These will help you with capturing the pokemon you encounter or want", he hands them to me and my excitement grew again inside me. "I wish you good luck on your adventure Daniel"
I was preparing my bag in my room. Torchic was jumping happily on my bed. Seems to me like she was to go on the adventure too. I said my goodbyes to my parents and all my friends that i had and i started to head out but what I saw wasn't the trail but my future with the Gardevoir I wished to have.
But...I never wished for this....
