Slender

“What, are you chicken?” my friends taunted me. Oh, how I wish they hadn't done this to me.

“No, it's just, that, I...” I responded.

“You're scared!” Cameron said. He is tall and has dark, red hair. “And plus, you smell bad. Did you take a shower today?”

“Yes!” I said, angrily. “I did take one.”

“Then go!” Sean shoved me. Man that kid is short, but he's strong!

“Brandon's scared, Brandon's scared!” they sang.

“Shut up!” I say as I slowly walk in to the darkness.

. . .

“Brr... It's so c-cold,” I shiver as I trudge through the crunchy autumn leaves. “He's not real. He's n-not real.” I got an eerie feeling when I heard a swishing sound on my right. “What was that?!?! Come on, guys, you can't scare me!” Huff, huff. My icy breath shows in the air. Suddenly, a cold tentacle-like thing grabs me by the neck and yanks me back. “Yaaaahhhh!!!”

Huff Huff I pant as I wake up. “Oh, it was just a dream,” I think. I look around the room. This isn't my house! “Whe-where am I?” I wonder. I see a lady dressed like a nurse talking on a phone.

“Kids called for help when they heard him scream, yes, yes.”

“Um, excuse me, ma'am? Where am I?” I ask her.

“He's awake!” the lady screams.

“What? That's amazing!” a man responds. He steps out from behind a curtain, in a doctor's outfit. “We thought you were dead!”

“Where am I? Who are you? What happened?”

“Slow down, son. You are in the hospital. I'm Dr. Spencer, and were not really sure what happened.” Suddenly I become aware of a throbbing in my throat. I reach up to hold it, but it's sensitive to touch.

“We found you in the woods, two kids named Cameron and Sean called 911 after they heard a scream. We came immediately.” the nurse says. “We believe you were attacked by the fabled 'Slenderman.'”

“But, that's not possible! He doesn't exist!” I protested.

“Well,” says Dr. Spencer. “There is really only one thing that could cause such a weird cut on your neck.”

“There are snakes, and eels, and-”

“Eels live in the ocean. And snakes can't drag you around.”

“But, but, but...” I stutter

5 Years Later...

“Are you sure you wanna investigate this place, after what happened?” Joshua, my best friend since Freshman year, asks.

“Yes. I am sure.” I answer.

“Well, here we go!” Josh says as we walk into the woods. “Now, what does he look like again?” I showed him a picture on my phone. He shivered. “That's pretty damn creepy.”

“Yeah,” I say. “I guess so.”

“You guess so! Dude! This guys freaking scary!”

“Yeah, I've heard that he's supposed to kidnap kids who go through his forest. They even made a game about him!”

“So how did you survive?” Josh asks curiously.

My neck tingles as we stroll through the grass. “Well, I don't really remember, but the nurse told me some stuff...”

“A tentacle grabbed me by the neck and yanked me back.  I screamed. I remember I saw a tall, thin figure. That's all I can think of.” I tell Josh.

“What did the nurse tell you?”

“Oh, yeah. She said my friends called 911. Luckily, there was a police station right next to the forest. I guess the cops came and scared him away, or something.”

“Hmph. That's pretty weird that he didn't take you with him. How old were you again?”

“Just turned 12.”

“Wow, you we-” Josh was interrupted by a loud noise. HOOOO! HOOOO!

“What the hell was that?!” Josh asked me.

I look over at a tall tree. I see a little winged figure. “Don't worry, it's just an owl, you scaredy cat!” I laugh.

“This place makes my feel weird.”

“Brings back bad memories.” I say. Then I saw something in the corner of my eye. “What's this?” I walked over to it. It looked like a little piece of paper with a marking on it. “No way! I thought this was just from the game!”

“That's not good,” Josh says. “This is not good at ALL!”

“It means, he IS real-”

“Brandon!!! Help!” I spin around and see Joshua being pulled away.

“Josh!!!” I run towards him, and there is a faceless figure dragging him. “N-no!”

Images of Slenderman staring at me go through my head. Him about to kill me. Him running away, leaving me on the ground.

. . .

I wake up lying against a tree. “Josh?” I sit up. “Josh???” I look around for him.

“Br-Brandon? You there?” I hear him mumble.

“Josh! Where are you?” I asked excitedly.

“Over here, buddy.” I followed his voice, until I found him on the ground.

“Holy crap! What happened to your arm?” His arm was completely torn up. Blood was oozing everywhere. “We... we need to bandage this up. I look around for something to stop the blood flow. I found a patch of moss. “Here you go Jo-”

“YYAAAAHHHHHH!!!” I hear my friend scream in terror.

“Josh!!!” I holler. “JOSH!!!!!” I looked around for him for about 30 minutes.

I find him on the ground, eyes wide open, blood dripping from his mouth. “Glghblhrt...” Joshua moaned.

“Josh! No, don't die!” I cried. “Please, Josh, don't die on me! Please!” The scar on my neck started throbbing. Crunch! A leaf went behind me. I turned around and saw him. Slenderman, staring at me without eyes. His tall, thin figure was covered by a fancy tuxedo. He had six, sickly black tendrils protruding from his back. “N-n-n-no! He c-c-can't be real!”

He said nothing. He stood there for like 5 minutes. Then, suddenly, all the tentacles on his back shot out at me, and everything went black.

. . .

“Two boys were found in the forest. One's arm was completely torn up, and the other had a big scar on his neck and six holes straight through his chest,” a police officer said to the Sheriff. “The first one had survived, and we tried asking him what happened, but he seems to be in a permanent shock. We think they were attacked by the myth 'Slenderman.' Although, we are not sure if he even exists.”

“I highly doubt it,” the Sheriff said. “But, you never know...”
