Lappland laid on the operation table, in deep sleep. Ansel and his co-workers applied the acid-like cure to the surface of every piece of rock on her body.
Just a few hours ago, the crew had come back, mid-operation. Successfully with the cure. They had no idea how Lappland knew, but there was a lengthy interview. The magic acid was said to cure not only oripathy but also wounds and memory loss.
Carefully, they brushed the acid. And watched as the acid melted the heavy layers of black crystallized rock away.
They were anxious if it would work on a Stage Three Opripathic operator. Outside the window, Texas stood watching. Behind her were the Penguin Logistic members including the blue-haired fallen angel, Mostima, who had just come back from her long journey.
Mostima was mentioned by Emperor many times in the many stories that were told to the PL members. And Lappland had found them all intriguing.
And behind the PL members, stood every other operator, anxious to see whether Lappland would survive. But mostly, if the cure works.
Ansel, with the most precision, applied the cure to the last of the rocks, the ones on her thigh. The spot where everything began. As though he was trying to turn back time by order, and get rid of the wrongs in Lappland's life.
The cure that was made by her pack's blood, the cure that her pack spent an eternity on, applied onto their own blood.
Texas stood outside, shaking, holding onto Exusiai's arm for reassurance.
She was watching Lappland, watching her own love's injuries disappear. Watching to see if Lappland would survive the operation.
Lappland's heart rate was printed on the monitor. The beats of the heart, went up steadily. Beating faster and faster as the originium particles tried to flee to the heart.
Ansel got alarmed. The x-rays started flashing red, in warning. And with great swiftness, he took the other part of the cure and poured some liquid down Lappland's throat.
Within thirty minutes of suspense, her heart rate died back down to the normal pace. The particles were now completely exterminated.
"Medics, I think we have done it. I think we just successfully cured someone," Doctor said, holding up his hands, "Well done, Ansel."
Ansel smiled, "Thank you." He stood there staring at Lappland, now rid of all inhuman factors. A perfectly normal Lupo, all healthy and death was no longer a threat.
He breathed slowly. And so did Texas outside, and so did everyone else watching. The crowd outside cheered, cheered that their ally was able to survive oripathy. That she didn't become like the others who died before her.
And Texas cried happily, "I knew you were strong, Lappland. I knew it. I knew you would go through this."
