I woke up with a raging headache. I check the time and I see that it is 8:20. I groan as I realize that I woke up before my alarm. I turn back around but not before I hear the creak of my door. I peek to see Rio walking in with a cup of coffee. She lightly sets in down on the nightstand and crawls into the bed with me. "Rise and shine." I can practically hear the smile in her voice. I mumble a sad good morning back. We sit there in silence for a few moments. The silence is ruined by my alarm going off. She reaches over to turn it off and rips the blanket off of me. I whine in protest as she grabs my ankles and drags me off of the bed. At this point, I am basically up and ready to go.
I slowly stand up, feeling all of my joints stretch painfully. Ever since the accident, every time I stay in a position for too long my body will begin to ache. The doctors said it is temporary but they do not have an estimate. I stumble into the bathroom examining my face in the mirror. My eyebags are protruding from my skull and my hair looks like it could house a family of birds. groggily turn the shower water on waiting for it to heat up. As soon as I see the glass doors fog up I take off my clothes and step in the shower. I sit there listening to the water hit the shower floor. Soon enough I slip into another reality. Everything is pitch black. All I can hear and feel are my ears ringing and the blood trickling down my head. I try to yell but nothing seems to come out. I slowly fade from the world but not before I feel strong hands grabbing me.
I am awoken from my haze when I hear knocks coming from the bathroom. "Liyah, it's 8:50 you may want to pick up the pace." I rush out a response before I quickly start to wash up. I put on black cargo pants and an oversized shirt. I sit in front of the mirror hanging on my door as I get my hair and makeup done. I detangle my hair and put it back into a low bun with two strings hanging in the front. When it comes to makeup I don't do much. I just put on concealer, mascara, and lip gloss. I put my bag together and took one final look at myself. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Rio's coffee still sitting on the nightstand. I take one big gulp of it before I leave the room. I walk out of my room to see Rio sitting on the couch playing on her phone. "I'm ready to head out". I feel bad for having to make her take me to school. I haven't gotten comfortable with driving just yet. She nods her head and we head out the door.
This is the last semester of my senior year. I vowed to make this year the most exciting year yet. I do not remember the last few semesters but I know I did not go out a lot according to Rio. I want this year to be different and I want to make up for the memories that I have lost. I hear my professor call out my name. I blink at her confusedly. "Ms.Williams, can you answer number one for us?" I stare at the question on the board. Oh shit, this is something new. I blink a couple more times, but before I could muster up an excuse the bell rings. God bless. I begin to pack up my things when I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I look at my screen to see a message from Rio. 'Meet me in the middle of campus, with the weird grass statues', I reply back before leaving the classroom.
I see Rio talking to a few people. She glances over and waves at me to come over. "Liyah! These are my friends from my public speaking class." I look at each of them and smile. I have learned that the blonde girl with pink tips is Hannah, and the girl with black hair is Valentina. The tallest boy's name is Finn, the black-haired boy is Mateo, and lastly, the redhead is Sebastien. Valentina was the first one to say something first, "We were thinking about going to the club on 26th street if you wanted to come?" Now that I think about it, I haven't been out in a while, let alone to that club. I smile, "I would love to." She smiles back and tells everyone that she has to meet another friend. Slowly thereafter all of Rio's other friends leave, leaving her me. "I don't have any good dresses, can I borrow one of yours?" She shakes her head yes and practically drags me to her car.
I tiredly put on another dress and walk in front of Rio, who is sitting down in front of her closet waiting for me to come out. She looks me up and down before shaking her head no. I sigh in defeat and drag my feet back into her closet. I grab a red dress that is covered in sparkles and has a slit right above the panty line. This surely has to be it, right? I walk in front of her judging eyes once again. She scans me up and down and just when I thought she was going to approve of this dress, she shakes her head once again. I groan, "Can we please take a break? We've been doing this for almost an hour now and I want to take a nap." She raises an eyebrow, "These ones just don't seem like you, I know you could do a lot better. One more dress and we can take a break... please?" I throw my head back and grumble a small 'fine'. I walk back into the closet and grab the closest one I can find. It is black and made out of silk. The back of the dress is crossing over each other and the front lightly droops over my chest. I examine myself one more time before walking out. She takes one look at me and immediately grins. "This is the one." I let out a tired sigh and walked toward my bed. As soon as I lay my head on my pillow I was out.
I accidentally fell asleep in the dress so that was less thing to do while getting ready. I did my usual makeup routine but I added red lipstick and smokey eyeshadow into the mix. I brushed out and moisturized my hair, letting my curls fall over my shoulders. Rio was ready before me so after I was done we left. She spots her friends already in the line waiting to get in. We walk towards them and exchange quick hugs. This time Mateo was the first one to say something to me. "You look beautiful." He flashes me a sweet smile. I give him the nicest thank I can muster up. It's been a while since I've been complimented. We make it to the bouncer, who checks all of our IDs and nods his head to signal us to walk inside. Rio grabs my hand and grins, "Are you ready for a crazy night out?".
Hi! I was honestly bored and decided to make a story. I'm going to use this as a redemption for myself. I promise I'm not the same as I was 2-3 years ago I've changed LMAO.
