It was our first day of classes for the new year and it was defence against the dark arts up first and the first class with this Umbridge women and I had a bad feeling about her. The class was fun at first, we were all chatting and having fun one of the kids had made a small paper bird fly around the room with a simple charm.

"Bring it over here. Over here," One of the kids said.

"Oh, go on, Seamus. Go on, get it," Dean said as Seamus got up and hit the bird and a few kids cheerd.

"Good morning, children," Umbridge said as she turned the bird to ash and it landed on a desk.

"And so it begins," I said under my breath.

"Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations. O-W-Ls. More commonly known as OWLs. Study hard and you will be rewarded. Fail to do so, and the consequences may be severe. Your previous instruction in this subject has been disturbingly uneven. But you'll be pleased to know, from now on... you will be following a carefully structured, Ministry-approved... course of defensive magic," Umbridge said as the class began and then a stack of books travelled around the room landing a book on the desk one for each student.

"The hell is this," I said looking at the book.

"Yes?" Umbridge said she saw Hermione's hand go up.

"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells?" Hermione said.

"Using spells? Well, I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom," Umbridge said.

"We're not gonna use magic?" Ron said confused.

"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way," Umbridge said.

"What use is that? If we're attacked, it won't be risk-free," Harry said.

"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class. It is the view of the Ministry... that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient... to get you through your examinations... which, after all, is what school is all about," Umbridge said after raising her voice at Harry.

"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Harry said.

"There is nothing out there, dear. Who do you imagine wants to attack children like yourself?" Umbridge said.

"Oh, I don't know. Maybe Lord Voldemort," Harry said and the was a deep and silent pause.

"Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told... that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie," Umbridge said.

"It's not a lie. I saw him. I fought him," Harry said.

"Detention, Mr Potter," Umbridge yelled.

"So your saying Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?" Harry said.

"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident," Umbridge said.

"It was murder. Voldemort killed him," Harry said.

"Enough! Enough. See me later, Mr Potter. My office," Umbridge said.

later after all classes are done for the day I am in the common room with Ron and Hermione as Ron tries to get Hermione to help him with another essay.

"I'm not asking you to write all of it for me I've been busy studying for these stupid OWL exams," Ron said as we head to the sofas to join Harry.

"I'll do the introduction. That's all," Hermione said.

"Hermione, you're honestly the most wonderful person I've ever met. And if I'm ever rude to you again..." Ron said and I cut him off

"You'll have gone back to normal," I said as we sat.

"What's wrong with your hand?" Hermione sad.

"Nothing," Harry said he showed his hand.

"The other hand. You've got to tell Dumbledore," Hermione said she took his other hand and we saw the markings.

"No. Dumbledore's got enough on his mind right now. I don't want to give Umbridge the satisfaction," Hary said.

"Bloody hell, Harry. The woman's torturing you. If the parents knew about this..." Ron said.

"Yeah well I haven't got any of those, have I, Ron?" Harry said.

"Harry, you've got to report this," I said.

"It's perfectly simple. You're being..." Hermione said but was cut off.

"No, it's not. Hermione, whatever this is, it's not simple. You don't understand," Harry said.

"Then help us to," I said.

"Do you ever stop eating?" Hermione said to Ron as he shoved half a sausage into his mouth.

"What? I'm hungry," Ron said his mouth full of food.

"Harry," Ginny said.

"Can I join you?" Harry said but just we are about to say yes we hear something in the hallway

"Pardon me, professor, but what exactly are you insinuating?" Umbridge said as we all come to see what is going on.

"I am merely requesting that when it comes to my students... you conform to the prescribed disciplinary practices," McGonagall said

"So silly of me, but it sounds... as if you're questioning my authority in my own classroom... Minerva," Umbridge said

"Not at all, Dolores, merely your medieval methods," McGonagall said.

"I am sorry, dear. But to question my practices is to question the Ministry... and by extension, the minister himself. I am a tolerant woman... but the one thing I will not stand for is disloyalty," Umbridge said.

"Disloyalty," McGonagall said.

"Things at Hogwarts are far worse than I feared. Cornelius will want to take immediate action," Umbridge said.

--Skipping the montage where Umbridge is a bitch-

"Sixteen years I've lived and taught here. Hogwarts is my home. You can't do this," Trelawney said as she cried.

"Actually, I can," Umbridge said.

"Bitch," I whispered and then McGonagall pushes past to Trelawney's side.

"Something you'd like to say?" Umbridge said.

"Oh, there are several things I would like to say. There there there..." McGonagall said comforting Trelawney.

"Professor McGonagall, might I ask you to escort Sybil back inside?" Dumbledore said as he appeared from inside.

"Sybil, dear. This way," McGonagall said as she led Trelawney back inside.

"Thank you," Trelawney said as she passed Dumbledor.

"Dumbledore, may I remind you that under the terms... of Educational Decree Number..." Umbridge said getting cut off by Dumbledor.

"You have the right to dismiss my teachers. You do not, however, have the authority to banish them from the grounds. That power remains with the headmaster," Dumbledor said.
