Feint cries could be heard, soon the cries were joined by the clashing of steel.

The cries and clashes grew louder until the pitch black void immediately shifted to an open field, the soil was drenched in crimson blood and the screen was covered in men battling each other, on one side stood the unmistakable sight of spartans and on the other stood an overwhelming force of fur clad warriors.

The battle continued and while the spartans fought valiantly and ferociously, taking down 3 barbarians for every spartan. They still found themselves on the losing end of the battle, soon the battle turned into a slaughter as some of the spartans began to flee from the field.

The view then panned in on the spartan commander who found himself at the mercy of one of the barbarians, yet something seemed familiar about this particular spartan.

Kratos began searching the field, before staring at the barbarian with grim determination.

"ARES!" he called.

"DESTROY MY ENEMIES AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!" he continued.

The barbarian stared in confusion before raising his axe, moving to finish off the spartan, however he was knocked back by the sound of lightning.

The clouds parted ways revealing a looming figure that cast a shadow across the entire field, barbarians and spartans alike stopped their fighting and turned towards the figure before all entire consumed in a bright light.

Kratos awoke, panting as he did.

"Father? Is everything alright?" Atreus asked with slight concern.

Kratos began scanning his surroundings, they were atop a mountain overlooking their home, a used fireplace laid before him, its fires long dead.

Kratos finally regained his bearings and responed.

"I am fine." he told him quietly. "Begin repacking the fleabags, we need to use the daylight while it lasts."

The view panned out to reveal the wilderness surrounding the mountain, in the distant a large lake could be found in the shadow of an even taller mountain.

The view panned back in to the father and son duo, they had finished packing their fleabags and began moving towards the lake, as they moved through the cliff they began noticing glowing trees surrounding their hut.

"Look!" Atreus called. "All this time... there's been a protection stave around our woods."

Kratos scanned around the woods, looking intensily as if trying to find out anything harmful of the stave.

"But... the stave is broken there." he pointed towards the distance. "Did you cut those down?"

Kratos stared towards the broken patch of trees.

"She hand-marked the trees she wished for her pyre..." he quietly responed, still staring towards the broken patch.

Atreus looked confused. "Why'd she do that?"

Kratos looked thoughtful for a second before quickly snapping out of his thouhts.

"Come!" he told his son. "No looking back now..."
