We've been friends since Fourth Year High School. Nagkakilala tayo sa isang convenience store. Sabay nating hinawakan yung cup na paglalagyan sana ng drinks.
"Ahm, sorry miss. Sige, ikaw na mauna"
"Ah thank you. Sorry I'm in a hurry, I have to go."
Then I left. It was just an ordinary day for me. What I know is I skipped breakfast because I'm afraid na ma-late ako sa klase ko and when I knew I still have enough time to eat, I bought something to fill my tummy.
Hindi pa kita masyado namukhaan nun. But after a week, nakilala mo ako at nagkausap ulit tayo. But this time, sa isang waiting shed.
"Hello. Ako nga pala yung nakasabay mong kumuha ng cup last week sa convenience store. Nakikilala mo pa ba ako?" Bigla mo nalang sinabi kaya napalingon ako.
"Ay hello. Sorry hindi ko na matandaan eh." Then I switched my attention to my wrist watch as if I didn't care about you.
"Ganun ba? Sige, magpapakilala nalang ako sa'yo. I just want to be friends with you. Okay lang ba?" Then you smiled. I tried to be friendly to you kahit hindi naman talaga ako ganung klaseng tao.
So I smiled too, "Sige okay lang."
"I'm Gale nga pala." You offered your hand. I grabbed it and we shaked hands.
"Rain" I said while giving you the best smile I could give.
"Ah, nice to meet you Rain. I'm new to this town kasi kaya alam mo na, still gaining some friends." You explained even if I didn't asked you to.
"Oh I see, if you need help or tour, maybe I can help? Ilang months ka na ba dito?"
"Thank you ha. 2 weeks and two days to be exact."
"Ahh. Fresh na fresh ka palang pala dito. So, where are you headed to?"
"Sa school. Yeah, I'm a latecomer but I'm not too late for classes pa naman dito siguro diba? It's still July and I can cope up naman agad siguro sa lessons." Oo nga naman. Nakita nga kitang naka-uniform, tinanong ko pa.
"Yes, hindi pa naman yan late but I can see from your uniform and ID lanyard, isa kang new student ng CVHS?"
"Yep. Actually, ngayong Monday palang ako papasok since madami pa kaming inayos sa bago naming bahay these past few weeks." I find you entertaining kasi you're great at initiating connversation and you never ran out of topics.
"I see. And you are...in what level?"
"Senior year"
"Wow. Okay, we're schoolmates and we're both seniors. So what section are you in?" I asked. Naeexcite pa naman akong magkaroon ng bagong classmate at mamatay sa inggit mga kaklase ko dahil friends na kami ng newbie na 'to.
"It's nice to know a schoolmate naman agad. I belong to the section Morse. Are we classmates?"
"Sayang pero hindi eh, Einstein ako." Sayang naman he's on the second section pala yet I'm on the first.
"Aww, oo nga sayang but maybe I can visit you sometimes? Para naman may makausap ako at tour guide sa school." Kaloka, ginawa pa akong tour guide. Maka-take up nga ng Tourism next year.
"Yeah, sure. Oh here's the bus." I said as I've noticed a transportation's beep.
Then we both entered the bus going to our school. The bus was full but there where still two seats so we both sat there when suddenly, an old woman entered and stood up beside us. You stood up too and offered your seat.
"Ale, kayo na po maupo dito oh."
And that was the gentlemanliest act I've encountered in my entire life so far.
