"And after all, what is a lie? Tis but the truth in masquerade"

I met Dottore in a marriage meeting between the Acadamiya and [ ]. It didn't take me long to figure out he was cruel and insane, but at the time it couldn't matter less to me. He was to be my husband, that was all. It did however, surprise me to see a man who looked relatively normal for a [ ].

He was tall. A syringe adorned his ear like an earring. He wore a lab coat with a blue shirt under, as well as a light blue cape with teal accents. I guess I zoned out for quite a bit because the next thing I knew I was walking with him in the garden.

"Is there something you wish to say to me?" Dottore kept his eyes forward "Or are you simply drooling over me, darling"

I couldn't hear what exactly he was saying.
I was too focused on his lips which kind of looked-

"Beautiful" I covered my mouth immediately, realizing I had just said the first thing on my mind. He scoffed before glancing at me, then suddenly showed a shocked expression. I realized he was staring at my ear and started to question if I had something on it or something.

"Is there something on my ear?" I asked. Flinching, he quickly looked away and continued walking.

"..." he seemed hesitant to tell me "where is your akasha?"

"Ah" I realized it hadn't been on my ear "I think the Academia took it in for some upgrades.. or something like that"

We both continued to walk silently. I think I hear him say something like 'Useless morons' but decided not to pry. He would probably tell me later anyways, as we'd spend the rest of our lives together.

I heard the door slam open as a certain blue haired man angrily walked inside. He shouted a few complaints but calmed down after a while. After 6 years of living together, i learned not to interfere with his tantrums, which he had more often than expected.

After marrying him, I realized he was more insane than I thought. He often came home covered in dust or some weird chemical and even got himself exiled from Sumeru for burning down a forest once. Even if I was his wife, he did most of the work and also made the most trouble for the both of us.

...but he did treat me right.

6 years is a long time.
Over the years we've learned a lot about each other. We probably know each other better than anybody else now.

I learned that he had the capability to be sweet. Every holiday he'd make sure to buy me a gift (even if he'd give me the weirdest but most useful of things). He made sure that I was always comfortable and always handled me gently. When I was sick, he made sure to take care of me. When I cried, he comforted me, even if he was extremely awkward about it. Though it was a marriage out of contract, he did things that weren't needed. He always made me feel loved.

It took a while, but I did learn his real name.
He only told me bits and pieces about his past and drew the line at learning too much about him, which I made sure to respect. We trusted each other.

"I'm home, love" he sighed frustratedly. He hurriedly slumped over on the couch and rested his head on my lap, throwing the book I was reading someplace else.

"Welcome home" I chuckled. He would often be spoiled after work hours. Though it's understandable, as sometimes he'd be gone for work weeks at a time, which we slowly tried to get used to.

"What do you want for dinner?" I traced his jaw with my finger, lifting his chin slightly. I watched as he melted into my hand and closed his eyes.

"Hm.." he contemplated "How about.. you"

"Huh-?"

Before I knew it I had been carried to the bed.

I woke up in the middle of the night.
Dottore was next to me, sleeping peacefully. I kissed him on the forehead before getting up to feed the dog, which I had forgotten to do because of someone who slipped me in the sheets as soon as he got home.

"Help!" A girl's voice called out to me "Help me please!"

The voice sounded familiar.. but not familiar at all at the same time. As if something had blocked it whenever I heard it, but I definitely heard it before. What was even weirder is that it was coming from the dog house. I ran towards the backyard in a hurry, worried someone might of gotten attacked by Chip.

"Hello?!" I shouted. A young petite girl with green hair and purple eyes stared back up at me. She sat in the doghouse with a collar tied to her neck and an anklet on her foot. She stared up at me with wide eyes.

"Y-you can see me?" She asked "you can hear me?"

"Of course I can what kind of question is that!" I scolded "Who did this to you and how did you get here!?"

She seemed to have momentarily stilled before looking back at me with darkened eyes. "..Who did this to me? How I got here?" She asked angrily "maybe ask your husband!"

"What? My husband?" What did Dottore have to do with this "I-"

No, deep down I knew the answer

This didn't make sense.

Memories flooded into me, bits and pieces trapped in the back of my mind resurfaced and bit into my brain.

I met Dottore in a marriage meeting between the Acadamiya and [THE FATUI].

I suddenly realized why he never let me learn more about him. Before I met him, I would never trust him—not so easily so why—?

It did however, surprise me to see a man who looked relatively normal for a [FATUI HARBINGER].

...The reason why?
No, I never trusted him. I never loved him.
