Chapter 1

October 16, 1954:
Rose's Pov:
Well, Today's the day My best friends perform on the Louisiana Hayride. When I heard the news, I was beyond excited for Elvis he always had a gift for singing. When we were little, we would sing songs together. That's how we became best friends we didn't care about our race or economic status we just like being there for one another. We always dreamed about being famous singers one day, although we didn't expect it to become a reality.

I was sitting down in the lunchroom reading a book and eating my lunch when my best friend Priscilla sits down next to me.

Hey, Rosie whatcha reading?" She said placing her tray on the table and sitting down next to me
"Oh it's called "How to Kill a Mockingbird"  It's fascinating," I said taking a bite out of my apple

"Cool Hey did ya hear Elvis, Scotty, and Bill are performing tonight on  the Hayride," She said smiling 
"Yeah that's all everyone keeps talking bout I wish I could go, "I said putting my book down
"Why can't you? "Priscilla asked confused
"Cil you know what my mother is like she hates me socializing with anyone with "less money " than us," I said mocking my mother
"Wow your mother is a real - "Priscilla said
"Bitch? yeah trust me I know '' I said finishing her sentence
"You said it not me, "Priscilla said giggling and taking a bite out of her sandwich
"I just don't know how I'm gonna tell El, "I said
"Tell me what Bumble bee, " Elvis said sitting down with his girlfriend Dixie right next to him
Bumble bee was Elvis's Nickname for me, you see when we were 10, we were playing outside, and I got stung by a bumble bee and ever since then he called me bumble bee.
"I can't go to the Hayride tonight "I explained
"Let me guess your Mama," Elvis said disappointed
"Like always, "I said annoyed
"Come on  I need you there with me,  " Elvis said
"Oh come on Scotty and Bill will be  there, so will ya folks  and - "I said right before I was interrupted by Dixie
"Me "Dixie said grabbing his hand 
"Oh right and Dixie of course, "I said with a fake smile
Dixie was Elvis's Girlfriend and a very jealous one at that she hated how close El and I were to each other. Let's just say we were never friends, but I put up with her for El.
"Please Bumble I can't perform without ya you know your my good luck charm, "Elvis said grabbing my hand 
"Well we wouldn't want ya performing without ya good luck charm now, would we? I'll be at your house at 5:30 "I said smiling
Elvis let go of Dixie's hand, got up from the table, came to where I was sitting, and Kissed my cheek.
"Your the best girl ever Love ya bumble, "Elvis said getting up from the table and walking off with Dixie
I go back to eating my lunch when I notice Priscilla's face
"What?" I asked confused
"He kissed you, "Priscilla said smiling
" yeah on the cheek," I said with a giggle
"A kiss is a kiss in my book, "Priscilla said
"Whatever, "I said laughing
"Come on I'm telling you he likes you, Rose, "Priscilla said with a big smile
"He has a girlfriend Cil, "I said forcefully
"True but I'm telling you He likes you, "Priscilla said
~Time Skip to The Hayride~
Priscilla and I take our seats which were in the middle section we were talking about homework when Scotty came up to us.
"Rose there you are come on, "Scotty said grabbing my hand and taking me out of my seat
"Where are you taking me, Scotty? I asked scared and confused
"You gotta come backstage, "Scotty said
dragging me by the arm towards a door with their name on it
"Why ?"I asked
"It's Elvis he's nervous about performing "Scotty explained
"You kids are up next, "The announcer said to us as we were by the door
"Oh shit come on, "Scotty said pushing the door open
Before the door closed I noticed a man by it looking like he was searching for something. We went down the steps and I saw Bill getting the instruments out and Gladys and Vernon standing next to Elvis, who was sick.
"Bill it's go time," Scotty said helping Bill with the instruments
"I know did you find her ?" Bill asked
"Yeah I did, " Scotty said putting his guitar on
"Hey I thought I'd grab him a Pepsi poor thing still shaking like a leaf,  "Dixie said
"We know what will get him on that stage come on, "Scotty said walking over to Elvis
"Here it'll settle your stomach, "Dixie said handing Elvis a Pepsi
"What if I forget the words on live radio, "Elvis said anxiously
"That won't happen El'' I said
Elvis spun around and looks at me surprised
"Rose?" Elvis said
"I told ya  I'll come didn't I ?"I said with a smile
He hugs me for a good minute.
"Oh I'm so glad you're here  I'm real nervous, "Elvis said
"Look El you got this, okay all you gotta do is look at me I'll be in the front row, "I said holding his hands
"Wish you were singing with me tonight like we used to do back when we were kids, "Elvis said
"Yeah, Me too, but it's your time to shine and when you're  famous I'll be right by your side, "I said with a smile
~Time Skip to the Performance ~
"Well um we're gonna do a song we got out at Sun Records, you got anything else to say, sir ?"Elvis asked nervously
"No I'm ready " The Host said with a grin
Elvis started to scan the audience and saw me sitting in the front row next to priscilla what happened next was a total surprise.
"Um actually we uh missing someone ,but she's hiding out in the Audience Rose will ya come up here "Elvis said into the mic looking right me
I sat for a moment ,thinking about not going up there until I saw the Look on Elvis 's Face there was really no way he would be able to perform without me by his side ,so I got up and went on stage .
"It looks like there another singer with them tonight ladies and Gentlemen whats your name young lady ?"The Radio Host asked me as they got a another mic for me
" Rose Mcfarland sir "I said adjusting the  mic stand
"Well are you kids ready?" He asked
"Yes sir we are " I said giving a quick nod to El

Time Skip to After the performance ~
"Ya'll were truly amazing tonight Baby "Gladys said giving Elvis a kiss on the cheek
"Thank you Mama ,but I couldn't have done with bumble bee you were awesome"Elvis said pulling me in for a side  hug
"Well it's getting late I'm sure Rose here as a curfew Right Rose ?"Dixie said with a little harsh tone
"Actually No I don't ,but thank you for caring Dixie "I said sarcastically
Just then Elvis's 12 year old Brother Billy came into the room and sat down next to Gladys watching tv.
"Hey Rose How's it going, "Billy said 
"Hi Billy everything's fine "I answered him with a small smile 
''Jason told me he saw y'all perform tonight "Billy said
"Yeah, we did, how come you weren't there?" I asked
" Cause he's grounded "Elvis said laughing
"Shut up "Billy said hitting El in the arm
The two begin to hit each other until Gladys  says something
"Boys knock it off we have company " Gladys said with a stern look
"Rose is part of the Family Mama If anything Dixie is Company "Billy said
I nodded my head in agreement
"Well still its impolite to fight with young ladies present "Gladys said
~Later~
  "Well, it's getting late I should probably head home  "I said standing up and grabbing my coat
"Oh wait  I'll walk you out bumble bee  "Elvis said getting up and walking with me to the door
Elvis grabbed his coat and we both walked outside the cold night breeze brushing against our faces .
"I had a really fun time with ya tonight "Elvis said
"Yeah me too just like old times "I said smiling
"Yeah "Elvis said gazing into my eyes
We stood there gazing long into each others eyes until he started to lean in and    I leaned in as well and before I knew it his soft blush lips were on mine  .It was like fireworks went off inside my body that Kiss was  breathtaking .After about two mintues we pulled apart .

"Night Bumble bee "Elvis said goes towards the door
"Night El "I said leaving walking towards my car
He went inside and I got in my car and drove home, reminiscing about the kiss repeatedly. Maybe Priscilla was right maybe El did have feelings for me , because I know I have feelings for Him
