"Good afternoon, Miss Hiddleston; it's Mr. and Mr. Duffer's assistant. I'm calling to inform you that filming for season four will begin on the 1st of September 2021 in Atlanta.".
"Wait really! They lifted the COVID restrictions on filming?"
"Yes, they have. You must report to the Netflix building in Atlanta by the 25th of August. Filming will take approximately 4 months".
"Yea I understand , thank you miss, goodbye"
"Further details will be emailed to you , your agent, and your father as soon as possible. See you in 3 weeks, Miss Hiddleston."
Ivy hung up the phone and dropped her hoe onto the bed. She expected to be ecstatic to be filming again and to see her cast mates, whom she hadn't seen in over two years. The cast had their scripts read over a year ago, filmed a few scenes, and then had to shut down due to unforeseen circumstances. She'd had to leave London for about six months. 6 months without her heartstopper friends, 6 months without her childhood home, and 6 months without Kit
Ivy had invited Kit over to her house so she could tell him before anyone else. They were seated in the living room, facing each other.
"Is everything all right, ives? You've been really quiet."
Ivy looked to meet Kit's eyes. "Um, these past few months have been amazing and honestly life changing, but..." she took a deep breath and gently grabbed his hands.
"Holy shit , are you breaking up with me?" Kit panicked
"no no no sweetie of course not. I got a call from the Stranger Things production team, and filming starts in less than a month"
"oh ok so what's wrong?"
"I have to move back to Atlanta," Ivy admitted, looking down at their intertwined hands.
"For how long?" he said softly.
"It could be 6 months to 2 years," she said, matching his tone.
Kit, let out a breath. "Oh, that's a long time."
"Yeah, it is."
"So what does this mean for us? I don't want to break up," he said quietly.
"I don't want to either, but it's not fair to make you wait for me to come back." Ivy untangled their fingers. She stood up, looking down at Kit with teary eyes.
He grabbed her hands once more. "I am not letting you go.I will wait for you, no matter how long it takes. I love you, Ivy Hiddleston, and a few thousand miles isn't going to stop that," he confessed. He stared into her teary eyes, hoping for a reaction of any kind.
Ivy bent down in front of Kit, still holding his hands. " I love you too, Kit Connor."
As Ivy pulled Kit closer to her, they both burst out laughing. Their lips were gently pressed together. "You love me," she whispered
"I love you," he whispered back.
Ivy paused, thinking carefully about her next words: "Come with me."
"What?" he answered puzzled
"Come to America with me; you can come to set and meet everyone."
"Ivy," he sighed "What about my parents , the heart stopper cast , my life is here"
"It's not forever, and I'll pay for your family to come with you. I don't know if I can go this long without you." Ivy mumbled
"I'll be here waiting for you, and I'll wait no matter how long it takes."
"I'm going to miss you so much." Her voice broke as tears pricked in her eyes.
Kit placed his hands on either side of her face, stroking her cheeks gently, and said, "I'll miss you too, Leafy."
three weeks later
Ivy and her father had packed everything they would need while they were in America. They had their own house there, as they both filmed quite a bit there. Ivy loaded her final bag into the car, which took them to the airport.
"You're going to be home before you know it Ive , I promise." Joe mumbled, trying not to cry.
"Promise?"
"I promise," he said, pulling her into a tight embrace. "How am I going to live without our coffee and Adele sessions?"
"You'll manage. "You're a big boy now."
Ivy gave each of her friends a proper, heartfelt goodbye until she felt she had no more sadness to give until she saw him. She slowly walked towards him, wrapping her arms around his neck. He immediately placed his arms around her waist, holding her for as long as he could. They slightly pulled apart so they could rest their foreheads together. They didn't have words to exchange how they felt; as long as he held her and she held him, they were home.
