When Fiona Targaryen was born it wasn't like any other birth the royal family has seen. Alicent Hightower's fourth pregnancy was very easy. She didn't feel a lot of discomfort, her feet weren't swollen, she didn't feel nauseous or sick. Alicent was said to have been glowing throughout her pregnancy.  Viserys even visited her many a nights.

Usually Viserys would want and pray for a boy. However, this time was different. Instead Viserys prayed for a girl. Someone who Helaena could play with. Someone to look up to Rhaenyra. Someone who had the spirit of his late wife, Aemma Arryn.

The night before Alicent gave birth, Viserys had a dream. His Aemma was sitting in a meadow full of flowers. She was holding a baby who had fiery red hair and blue eyes with purple around the pupil. Aemma giggled at the babe and looked at Viserys. Aemma motioned Viserys over before she handed him the babe.

"With the blood of the dragon, the Hightower flame, and the ghost of a mother. She is special. More than anyone she is special." Aemma said before she kissed the babe on the head.

Viserys woke up with a gasp. Grabbing his cane he walked to his lady wife's chambers. Alicent Hightower was sweating and was uncomfortable but not in pain. Viserys stayed for the birth of his daughter. Alicent grimaced and pushed which every dull contraction.

The babe seemed to have easily slide out. Viserys went with the maesters as they used a cloth to clean the babe up and wrap it up. He was the first to hold her. The babe opened its eyes and looked at Viserys and the king could see the purple that ringed the babe's pupils. The babe had a head of curly red hair.

"You can name this child husband." Alicent said. She didn't react the way she did with her other children. She let Viserys be with holding their child. After pushing the afterbirth out Alicent went straight to sleep. Viserys took the babe and order that a crib be put in his room next to his bed.

Rhaenyra looked at her sister and her eyes widened at the red hair.

"Don't make that face. Hightowers have auburn hair. I expected at least one of our children to take on Hightower features." Viserys informed his eldest child.

"She's a beauty." Rhaenyra said.

"Rhaenyra. I believe that she is a gift from Aemma. Last night I dreamed of Aemma holding a babe with fiery red hair. Then Alicent gives birth to the same babe. It can't be a coincidence." Viserys said. Rhaenyra didn't really believe that but she didn't say anything .

A wooden crib was brought into the room along with blankets and fur quilts.

"What is her name father?" Rhaenyra asked.

"Flora. Flora Targaryen"  Viserys said.

"Not very Targaryen, but beautiful nonetheless."

"She is more than a Targaryen. I can feel it." Viserys said. Rhaenyra forcibly smiled at her father before she left him be with his newborn daughter.

As Flora grew older she was a magnificent child. It surprised everyone when Flora became attached to Aemond and Helaena. The babe was now a toddler at the age of three. Six year old Aemond would let her sit on his lap as he read to her and would often get shoulder for carrying little Flora around.

Flora screamed as she ran through the Red Keep trying to seek the protection of either her brother or father. She ran to the meeting room and disrupted a meeting by running and hiding behind her father. Alicent was highly appalled and embarrassed by her daughter's behavior.

"What is it little one?" Viserys said settling Flora in his lap as many lords looked at the child. Flora's appointed hand maidens and Aegon burst in afterwards along with Aemond and Helaena peeking in to see what was going to happen.

"I'm so sorry your grace. She refuses to get a hair cut." the handmaiden said bowing her head.

"No, cut my hair. It's pretty." Flora pouted said in Valyrian. Viserys laughed and nodded.

"You hair is beautiful little flower."  Viserys said. "If the princess does not wish to cut her hair than she does not have to." Viserys said. Flora jumped out of Viserys lap and ran off giggling. Grabbing Aemond's hand she started dragging him away.

"Come on let's go to the garden!" Flora said. Aemond quickly grabbed Helaena's hand not wanting to go alone with Flora in fear she'd force him to wear a flower crown again. Aemond's plan did not work and she still forced him to wear a daisy flower crown. But Aemond wore it with pride.

He watched as the wind blew through his sister's hair, making her look like an angel. If she was a couple years older Aemond was sure he would've fallen in love with her.

Whenever Rhaenyra came, Flora didn't know how to act. She didn't like how Aemond would get teased or how Helaena would be left out so she didn't like hanging out or being around Jacaerys or Lucerys. She did like Laenor though. He got her a wooden sword that she loved. When she wasn't with her Septa, Flora was with Aemond training or with Helaena in the gardens.

Ser Criston Cole wouldn't train the young girl so another person offered to.  He was also part of the kingsguard but was kind and generous with Flora. Instead of training her like men were trained in Westeros Ser Walden started with speed. He didn't even let her pick up a sword.

For two years Ser Walden worked on flexibility and speed before he started to actually train her in defense. Handing the girl a wooden dagger he started with teaching her how to dodge blows. Not only did it cause her to have to pay attention, it helped her to observe his movements.

Flora didn't have a dragon of her own. As she was never given an egg. But she was confident that she would get a dragon when the time came. Flora was content with where she was then and wasn't worried about the future. Until she found that her brother might not be in her future.
