Sam's P.O.V.

Sam was walking down the halls of his new school, clutching his books tightly to his chest in fear of dropping them.

He could tell he was going to make good grades this year - he always has - but when it came to making friends, Sam couldn't be sure. Most of his friends from middle school had moved, others went to different high schools.

Sam was left alone.

His thoughts had almost engulfed him into his own mind, causing Sam to crash into another student at the school, unaware of his surroundings.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" The voice was softer than Sam expected, and he immediately looked down to find the source of it.

His hair was long, a dark blonde color, with these gorgeous eyes that made Sam want to smile. Something about him just made Sam happy, and he couldn't tell what.

The Winchester hadn't realized he was staring until the boy raised his eyebrows in utter confusion, and Sam looked away from him, blushing furiously.

After the two had stood in the empty halls in silence, the boy put out a hand.

"Gabriel," the boy said, smiling softly and waiting for him to take his hand. Sam looked up innocently, then grasped Gabriel's hand, smiling also.

"Sam," he said, looking back at the ground once the handshake was just old news. He couldn't look at Gabriel's eyes without staring, so he decided to distract himself by counting the tiles on the floor.

"Well, I like you Sammy," Gabriel said, but before the boy could get any farther, Sam shot his head up and gave Gabriel his best puppy eyes, not really meaning to at first. "What?" The boy said, putting his hands up in self defense.

"Sammy."

"Huh?"

"You called me Sammy," he said, leaning in a little closer.

"And?" Gabriel said, still unaware of what Sam was trying to say.

"I don't like it when people call me that," Sam muttered. "It's a chubby eight-year-olds name," he finished, looking up at Gabriel.

"You get what you get and you don't throw a fit," Gabriel said, smirking as he repeated the verse that they had both heard many times in elementary school.

"Now, as I was saying, I like you Sammy," Gabe continued. Sam groaned in protest of the old nickname, but let him carry on.

The boy pulled out a lollipop from his pocket, and offered another to Sam. After he had declined the boys offer, Gabriel placed the lollipop in his mouth and started to talk again.

"I'd love to get to know you better," the boy said. "You got a number?"

Sam nodded his head, and Gabriel made a motion with his hand, telling him to hand it over. Sam pulled out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote down his phone number, struggling slightly because of the fact that they were in the middle of the hallway, and there were no desks.

Gabriel took a quick look at the number, looked back at Sam, and smiled again before continuing down the hallway.

Maybe he was going to make some friends this year.
