What is self confidence?
I've discovered that self-confidence varies depending on where you are in life. Your level of self-confidence determines how capable you are in a given situation or at work. For example, if you asked me to lead a meeting, address a group of individuals, or update top executives or managers as part of my job, I would be confident that I could do it because it is what I do. This is an action I do all the time. On the other hand, if you asked me to sing in front of a crowd while keeping in mind that I don't practice singing and that I have a terrible voice (really, it would damage your ears), I wouldn't be very confident.
Self-confidence, like any other talent, can be honed, but the key to strengthening your confidence is to act even when you are afraid to. It is frequently asserted that those who are confident do not lack fear; rather, they simply go ahead and do it. Speaking in front of others was therefore initially intimidating for me, but I persevered and my confidence grew as a result.
What is self-esteem?
Despite its connection to self-confidence, self-esteem is distinct. If you believe in yourself, you will most likely try more things and be less afraid to fail. You'll take risks, which will uplift your self-esteem.
For me, there are two main components to self-esteem:• The goals you have for your life.• Self-acceptance and self-love.
Your vision and goal are influenced by how capable you believe you are in life. What brings you here, and what do you hope to bring to the world? As someone who has always had ambition, this is extremely encouraging for me. I've always had great ideas, and I'm still striving to make them a reality.
The second half, on the other contrary, is about self-acceptance and self-love; how much you value yourself right now and how much you love yourself. This is an area where I have historically strived. Despite the truth that I am extremely fortunate to have the life that I do, I have always had an inner critic who bows at me when something goes wrong for making a mistake, not being where I want to be, and not being content with reality. This inner critic can be incredibly problematic for many people.
