"Survive the trip!?"
"That's just what Sturges said."
"I dont like the fucking sound of that, Fiona."
"You don't like anything Erin!"
The two stood opposite each other in the kitchen. They'd been going at it for nearly an hour now.
"Why cant you just trust me? For once can't you just trust that I can handle myself?"
"Because you can't Fiona! Every time we split up you act like a fucking loose canon and almost get yourself killed!"
"I got in and out of the institute just fine by myself last time."
"It was different then. As soon as you step in there it's hundreds of synths to one ."
"And you think you could do anything about that? Hundreds to two. The odds of that are just as rough." Erin's harsh gaze landed on the floor. As angry as she was, Fiona knew he cared about her. She only wished he wasn't such a stubborn asshole sometimes. Fiona took his hand. "As soon as everyone's relayed in, I won't leave your side. Just trust me. Ok?" He looked down at her as she spoke, not once breaking eye contact. Fiona searched his eyes hoping for a read, but nothing. Erin moved his hands from hers to her hips, resting at her belt. "I trust you." He paused. Effortlessly he pulled her into the counter by the belt loops.
"I just don't want you to leave me." Fiona smiled, grabbing his face and kissing him softly.
"I'm not going anywhere. Itll only be a few hours."
"You know I'm not patient." His breath tickled her neck, sending shivers down her spine, and butterflys in her stomach. As he moved his hands down her thighs, she thought if something evil. The girl smiled leaning into him, getting close to his ear.
"You know I like making you wait." She spoke softly, tracing her hand over his jaw. Before he could move to her hips she hopped off the counter. She could barely hear the slight chuckle that escaped her partner. "Fuckin tease." He joked. Fiona giggled circling the counter drawing her attention to the guns. She couldn't lie, Fiona was terrified of going alone. But she was getting really sick and tired of people underestimating her. Thoughts of everything that could go wrong flooded her mind as she loaded clips of ammo. Erin glared daggers into the back of her head. "Do you want to help." She asked jokingly. He quickly slid beside her and got to work. The two silently stocked the clips, sharpened blades, cleaned the guns, until surprisingly Erin broke the tension. "I sent a radio signal to Vanessa." Fiona abruptly dropped the halfway filled clip. "Why?" She asked, fending off the thoughts of jealousy of the woman. " We need all the help we can get." He answered. "Wait, but-"
"Knock knock?" The sweet yet sultry, British? Voice sang through the doorless doorway. Fiona tossed her head over her shoulder, to see possibly the most beautiful woman she's ever seen. Around 5'7, with platinum blonde hair and the clearest crystal blue eyes. Fiona stared at the woman almost in awe of her. "Uh-" she started. "I'm so glad you called, Erin. It's been ages, dear." The woman strutted over to him. She leand in dropping a kiss on the man's cheek. His dead expression didn't faulter as he wiped the red lipstick stain from his face. The woman whipped her head around to face Fiona. "Well aren't you just a sweet little thing." Vanessa stepped up to Fiona, who was slightly intimidated by the woman's height over her. How could she possibly run around the wastes in heels like that? Her porcelain skin contrasted greatly with the dark yellow plated armor she wore, it looked more fashionable than protective. It almost looked... Raider. "I'm Fiona." She spoke shortly returning her gaze back to the clip she had been loading. "I know! You and your... Army... Have created quite a ruckus in my territory. " An evil grim painted the woman's perfect face. "what territory? The minute men have most of the Commonwealth." Fiona's attention was drawn back to Vanessa, whose smile grew darker than before. "Nuka world"
"She doesn't know what that is ness." Erin chimed in. "Nuka world is the largest raider territory in the wealth. It's ran by 3 gangs." He explained. "And I'm the over boss." Vanessa chirped.
"So why are you here with the minute men?" Fiona questioned. "Well... We hate the institute just as much as anyone else. The enemy of my enemy can be a temporary friend. And I happen to owe your man one, so don't worry... I'll try my best to keep that pretty little head attached to your body."Hours later
"Wasn't aware I needed to know how to swim." Fiona complained into her radio. "You do know...right?" Sturges questioned. "Yeah. But I would've appreciated a warning!" She complained before diving off the bridge into the murky irradiated waters. She held her breath tight pulling through the large sewage pipe. Gasping as she resurfaced into a room. She spotted the panel and truged out of the water. "Are you ok?" She heard Erin ask over the radio. "Just freezing." She shivered punching in the code. Fiona looked around expecting something to happen. Nothing. She put the code in a few more times. Still nothing. "Codes not working sturges." She huffed snapping away. "I could've sworn.." "there's another open grate I'll try that" she interrupted. She dove back into the water swimming though the open pipe. After a few feet the pipe opened up below her. She fell into a pool even deeper into the sewer. Annoyed, she pushed the wet hair out of her face. "Ok I'm in an open part of the sewer. There's a path into what looks like a cave or something." "I think you're headed in the right direction." Sturges replied.
Just as she pulled herself out of the water the buzzing of a turret rang through the room. "Definitely" she pumped her shotgun taking out the two Lazer turrets. She followed the string of pipes, eventually making it into a room were she was ambushed by two synths. "Getting warmer!" She shouted over the radio, bullets tearing through metal. These two seemed more sturdy than the average gen 1 synth, taking more ammo than intended.
This last pipe led straight into the institutes relay room. "Ok I'm in" "just load the holotape into the terminal, it should get us in there." Sturges explained. Fiona did exactly that, then took a step back. Momentarily a bright light flashed, as it faded she was met with her friends. She smiled as Preston, Sturges, Erin, Vanessa, and Nathan stepped out of the relay. They seemed to be in awe of the process, just as she was the first time. Erin looked like he would throw up. "I never wanna do that again." He started taking a deep breath. He handed Fiona a dry set of cloths along with extra clips of ammo. She smiled, stepping behind a wall to change.
"So this is the institute... They could've held out down here forever. Why'd they need to come mess with us?" Preston questioned, looking around the technology in the room. "They think they're better than us." Erin replied. Fiona tightened the straps of her combat armor stepping back into the group. "Probably didn't help that I shot the place up on my way out." She joked. "Probably"
Suddenly a loud alarm blared through the halls as the group continued into the old robotics lab. Momentarily synths flooded into the room lazers showering over them. Fiona noticed Vanessa still wore the same revealing nuka girl costume. it was rather comical watching her absolutely obliterate the synths with her sword, her black heels made a satisfying click with every step. "No real armor Vanessa?" Fiona asked in-between firing. "Would only slow me down dear!" She chirped as she decapitated the last synth.
The 5 continued depper into the institute.
There seemed to be never ending waves of synths and Coursers, this time far worse then the assault on the castle.
Fiona attempted to run ahead, towards the atrium but was quickly stopped by a tight grip on her bicep. "Not leaving my side. Remember?" Erin reminded the girl of her promise. "Wait, watch out!" She shouted, Erin quickly spun around shooting an incoming assailant in-between the eyes. "What the hell is that?" He started at the creature in confusion. "That's a gorilla." "A what?" "Fi! Look there's gorillas!" Nathan shouted from across the room. "They're not nice dad!" She shouted back. "What the fuck is a gorilla?" Erin added to the chaos. "Just kill them!" Vanessa commanded, yanking her sword out of a larger one.
Soon enough the room was cleared. The group headed into the atrium when all hell broke loose.
