"It happened under the bus stop."

I was walking down the sidewalk late at night as I had just gotten off the late shift at my job. It looked like it would rain soon so I had quickened my pace as I didn't want to get caught soaked by the time I reached my house. It was my fault though, I should've never offered to take the night shift for a job I didn't enjoy. Anything for a quick buck though.

I reached the waiting place for the bus that would take me to the area my house would be at. I nervously looked around as being alone at night was never something I liked. It irked me that my phone was also dead, so I couldn't constantly check it like I always did. That's when there was something that you wouldn't quite hear in a town like this. It was late- Nobody was really out. The sound of a pebble had been heard as it had been kicked along the sidewalk. A chill ran up my spine as I quickly turned around, eyes darting as I tried to pinpoint what caused the noise.

If you could look closely, there would be a silhouette of something- no, someone in the distance. The shadow slowly grew closer. Now, you could pinpoint more of the features of this other person. An insane, twisted smile, wide eyes, and what looked like to be . . . Red? A normal person wasn't red. Nor would a normal person be holding a serrated kitchen knife- The more you watched this person, the bigger their smile got. Each step they took was followed by a soft thud against the concrete. You panic, of course. The person had only been getting closer and closer to you. Their head tilts in an abnormal way.

My breath started to quicken in pace as I whipped my whole body to face this large man. My eyes widened even more at the spotting of his sharp blade. I slowly start to back away, not knowing what to do. I didn't know how to defend myself, especially against someone ten times my size. I didn't even have anything to say, let alone scream. It's like my voice had never existed. All I could do was watch as he approached closer and closer, taking way larger steps than I could.

The one in red began to take faster steps- picking up his pace to get closer and closer to the other. He twirls and twists the knife in his claw-like hand, trying to get a better grip on it. His pace goes from a simple walk to a speed walk, he's clearly trying to get towards you from the deep darkened parts of the alleyway that he had remained in. The wooden handled blade slowly raises in his fist.

At this point, he's right in front of you. The two of you stand face to face, you can just feel his stare. His eyes were odd, yet they matched perfectly with the rest of him.

I was frozen in place, ice coursing through my veins. The feeling of his breath was on my face as he stood above me. Was this it? Was I going to die? It seemed that way since raised his blade. But for a good while, we stood perfectly still. It's as if we were frozen in time, in a permanent place waiting for one person to do something.

I feared that if I moved even a bit I would be killed on the spot. Even my breathing was slow as I feared that any sign of bolting would end with my blood on the pavement. Nothing seemed to happen for a few seconds, but, god, those seconds felt like hours. Did he seem to be admiring me? As he seemed to snap out of whatever thoughts that were running through his head, his eyes narrowed. As if he finally thought of a plan. There was no turning back now- even if I tried, it wouldn't end in my favor.

The man quickly pulls a hand over my mouth, to prevent any sort of sound. His eyes were still locked with mine. With zero hesitation he practically dragged me into the alleyway that he had come out of. I immediately felt a wave of confusion as it was not what I expected. I held onto his arm as I struggled but eventually realized the raw strength of this person was way better than my entire body weight.

I wasn't that strong, to begin with, let alone to him.

But why was I spared though? Or was I? Maybe he's taking me to a darker place to kill me out of public view? Or maybe even butcher me in some freak shop. The thoughts racing through my head made me start shaking even more out of fear. I also realized that what he wore was a red sweater. Which was odd to me. I knew what he was doing now in terms of looks. He was hiding his identity. Halloween was a few days ago, so it would be hard to tell who did what. He showed to be very clever in hiding his identity too. It seems that I wouldn't be his first victim.
