Waiting for you

Chapter One: Past Life

Magnus- 1804

       The sunset almost an hour ago, my horse lily became restless but we were so close to being home. I knew we had just about a thirty minute ride until I would see my home.
        Everything around me seemed to be still. It was as if the world around me froze. Lily stopped as if something or someone caught her attention. I lifted my lamp that hung onto my saddle trying to see if I could see anything. Nothing was there. Lily began to freak out as I tried to grip the reins and calm her down.
        In the next instance, Lily threw me as my lamp smashed as it made contact with the ground. I sat up and watched as Lily ran further and further away. My one thing of light had gone out, the only light was now the full moon that sat high in the sky.
I looked around to see if I could catch a glimpse of what could of spooked my horse. I turned around and stopped. Not far away from me I could see a shadowy figure.
It looked to be a man. I tilted my head confused and called out "hello? Sir? My horse seemed to have been spooked by something and ran off." The figure just stood in it's spot. The hairs on my neck stood up on edge. "Sir?" I asked cautiously. The moonlight shined on the figure as I could see a pair of red eyes and a large smile appeared on his face.
Fear filled my body as I began to back away. A cloud ran over the moon and the man vanished in an instant.
        I took off running, pushing myself as hard as I could. Every ounce of my body was screaming to keep going and to not stop. As I saw the fencing I helped my father built. I felt myself get hit and hit hard.
       A piercing pain came from my neck as I felt myself start to black out. The man dropped me and smiled as he crouched down in front of me. "Welcome to the other side." After that everything went black.
       When I finally woke up, I was in an abandon house. Everything seemed off, I could hear everything around. I could see dust falling. I knew something was off. An incredible thirst burned my throat as I gasped a bit. The sound of whimpering could be heard as I turned my head to look. There seemed to be a women cowering in a corner looking as if something extremely evil stood in front of her. I was confused until a smell so sweet hit my nose. My tongue salivate as my eyes stared at her. Moving closer I felt as if something sharp protruded from my gums. I ran my tongue over my teeth and felt the sharp canines.
        I was distracted for a second until the smell of honey hit my nose again. The women accidentally cut herself and before I knew I was on her in an instant. My newly formed fangs deep in her neck as I drained the life from her. She slowly went limp in my arms as I set her down gently. I looked at the now lifeless body in front of me. What have I become?

Opal- June, 2022
Work had been a bitch. Customer after customer just kept throwing every and any complaint my way possible. I was happy to finally be heading home to see my girlfriend. I just wanted to unwind and maybe go on a date. As I rounded the corner, I saw my girlfriend's car but a motorcycle that didn't look familiar.
Every possible thought started coming to mind. I quietly parked my car and made my way to the front door.
I was about to be like Sherlock Holmes and break this case wide open.
As I quietly move through the house I hear laughing going on. Then I heard a male's voice "So when is your girl suppose to be home? I'd hate to ruin our fun my love." Rage started to build as I heard lexy's voice. "Trust me, she'll never find out. I've been cheating on her for the past three years." I heard her laugh. "We have nothing to worry about baby."
I could feel the mixture of a broken heart and anger fuel my next moves. I busted out from where I was hiding. "Seriously?" They both jumped and as if on cue, Lexy came running up to me. "Baby it's not what you think. He's just my cousin." I looked at her in disgust. "So you're fucking your cousin?"
I could see her trying to come up with more excuses as her 'cousin' looked between us. He cleared his throat. "Should I let you two ladies talk?" I laughed a bit. "Nah dude, she's all your's." I walked to my room and started packing up all my things. I just started grabbing everything that was mine. I wanted nothing to do with Lexy anymore. She is to be my past. Luckily I had money in savings that she had no idea about. to think I thought about getting her a ring.
After grabbing everything, I make my way back to head out the door. Lexy came running up to me crying. "Please Opal, you're the best thing that has every happened to me! I can't lose you!" I pushed past her. "Should of thought about that before you cheated. I don't feel bad for leaving." It was true, I didn't. At this point she dug her own grave and all she can do is lay in it now.
At this point every part of her was becoming more and more annoying by the second. Her crying and whining voice. The way how she keeps begging me to stay. I finally snap and whip around to look her. "Why the fuck should I stay?! Huh?! So I can get cheated on again and again?!" She looked at me shocked. Out of all four years we have been dating, not once have I snapped on her, but nothing was going to stop me now. "Just fuck off Lexy. Don't go looking for me. Don't contact me. We. Are. Done." It was like venom pouring off my lips.
With that I turned and left with my bags in hand. It was time to figure out my own life and just be happy for myself. That was the last time I saw Lexy.
