RAVEN'S P.O.V

When I woke up that morning, I realised that Logan had left when I had fallen asleep. When I went down the stairs, I stopped halfway, hearing an argument in the kitchen. My mum and dad were fighting again. They started having fights when Jake first past away and now there back. When Jake passed away, my parents refused to have a funeral for my brother. At that time, I hated them so much but later on they started to regret it. They never told us the real reason why they didn’t have a funeral, but over the year, I kind of figured it out. My mum was too afraid to go through that whole mourning process, so my dad suggested cremation. In the end, they didn’t have either which hurt me incredibly but I understand why my mum did it. Dawn and I arranged to have Jake buried with just close family present. It really was only Mum, Dad, Dawn and I. My parents haven't visited his grave since.

They were screaming at each other about something, I couldn’t quite understand until I heard my dad throw a glass cup across the kitchen and at the wall. The glass shattered into a million pieces and flew around the house. I now heard what the argument was about, when my mother started yelling extremely loud that I think our neighbours might have heard. They were arguing about why Jake was on drugs in the first place. Each of them blamed the other and things started to get ugly. I ran down the rest o the stairs and to where all the action was happening. I stood in the middle of both my parents and screamed "STOP!" at the top of my lungs until they both stopped and shut up. I have never seen my parents like this before. My dad had blood all over his hand from the shattered glass and my mum's eyes were so red and swollen that it looked like she'd been crying for 2 days straight. I think she was. My two parents just stood there staring at me for  minute until my dad nudged me out the way and continued to fight with my mum. Suddenly my mum screamed so loud saying "I wish it was you who died!! I want my son back!". My dad had this look on his face like he could just break down into tears but instead, he slapped my mum across the face, leaving her with a red hand mark on her left cheek. I gasped in shock, whilst my dad stormed out the door crying. I had just witnessed something I would never forget. I quickly approached my mother who had been fallen against a chair. She hugged me so tight and cried into my shoulder, sobbing, and saying "I'm so sorry Raven." I just nodded and was there with shoulder for my mother to cry on.

Once my mother had calmed down, she asked if she could be alone for a while. I didn’t know what I was feeling or what I should do about what I had just witnessed. I didn’t want to get my father into trouble, neither did I want him to get away with what he had done. I needed to talk to someone. Hayley was out of town and Dawn wasn’t home, so I decided to go and talk to Logan. Lets hope he can help me. I knocked on the door and Dean answered once again. I walked in and asked if Logan was available and he said "No I'm sorry, he's out at the moment." "Do you know when he will be back?" I asked. "I'm afraid not. Why, what's wrong Raven?"  he answered with disappointment in his voice. "I just need to talk to someone about something important, so I thought of talking to Logan, but he isn't here. Great." I said, sounding desperate. "Well you can always talk to me Raven. Whoever is a friend of my brother, is a friend of mine." he considered. I thought for a while and decided to take a risk and trust Dean with what I was about to tell him.

I told Dean what happened and he didn’t seem so surprised. He told me that this kind of thing happens a lot when a loved one has been lost and that it is a serious issue. He suggested that I shouldn’t do anything about it right now but if it happens again or gets any more serious, then I should report it to the police. I took Dean's advice into account and I was so appreciative that he was there for me. "Thank you so much Dean. Your advice really helped me. I was scared and didn’t know what to do. So thanks." I told him, really meaning it. "No worries Raven, anytime. Really, if you ever need a friend to talk to, I'm here. " Before leaving, I gave Dean a hug and walked out the front door.
