(This is what I imagine Carter looks like)

I wake up to the noise of an alarm blaring in my ears and the sudden urge to throw my phone across the room. I squint to see the clock on my phone reading 6:30 a.m and I instantly groan.

Today starts the year of my senior year and all I can think about is how comfy this bed is. I want to close my eyes but I know if I go back to sleep now I'm gonna have an earful from my dad later.

I'm not sure what the weathers been like lately because I've been out of town for the past week and a half. My brother decided to take me out on a vacation before he gets back to working nonstop and I go back to my busy schedule due to school and soccer.

Practices started about a 2 weeks ago for new recruits and a week ago for the entire team but I missed all that. The coach let it pass simply because he's known me since the 7th grade. I think he didn't want me scaring the new recruits yet as well but I'll keep the theory to myself.

I threw a random t-shirt with a skull on it along with a pair of black jeans. My converse are wearing out from how much I wear but I still decide to slide them on. After brushing my teeth I decided to fluff my hair a bit and throw on a couple bracelets. I walk downstairs and see my dad already took of so I make myself a quick thing of toast before grabbing my skateboard and taking off down the road.

The school is about 4 blocks from my dad's house, so the trip wasn't bad. I made it about 15 minutes before the first class started, so I got to have a few minutes to spare. School sent me my locker number and class schedule in the mail a few weeks before school started, so I made my way to put my bag away.

"Look who finally decided to show up" a random voice began to say. I knew it sounded familiar so I turned my head and saw my best friend since the 4th grade, Micheal Whitlock. He was walking with another friend of ours Leah Martin as he approached me. Both of their eyes seemed to changed as the got closer to me and saw me a little better.

"When the hell did you get so hot, Carter?" I turned towards Leah absolutely shocked she just said that. The look on their faces made me laugh before I was started to be weirded out by their staring.

"You guys can close your mouths now" but they still just stood there. "Guys I'm being serious stop looking at me like that" still not moving from their spot. I decided to break the tension my punching Michael in the arm.

"Ow, you dick! What'd you do that for?!" I rolled my eyes at his dramatic response while Leah just giggled.

"You kept staring at me and wouldn't listen to a thing I said." He grabbed his arm tenderly before giving me a scowl.

"It's not my fault. You looked totally different before summer break..did you move into a gym or something?" I gave him a look because I wasn't sure if he was being serious or not. "Also when did you get so strong? I feel like you broke my arm, man." Leah decided the roll her eyes before coming up closer to inspect my "new look."

A few weeks before school went out I started heading to the gym and lifting weights more often than not. A difference couldn't be seen until like a month after school let out though. During the summer between workouts I was busy working extra shifts and dealing with whatever bad attitude my dad had on most days. Because of that and the impromptu trips my brother would take me on to make me feel better before senior year I barely had any time to hang out with my friends. I also let my hair grow out more and gained a tattoo or two. My glasses are still on but I changed the frame to shape my face better. To me it was like nothing changed but apparently to these two I look like a whole new person.

"All jokes aside you do look really good Carter" Leah spoke with a soft voice when she said it. It made me smile with how nervous she gets when spewing compliments.
