A/N: The plot holes are starting to fill.....aren't they?

Sashas POV:We stayed with each other for a while longer. The water around us adapted to us, evening out every so often before one of us would adjust. I'm not even sure how long we'd been out here, but it didn't matter. The time belonged to us just as much as the surrounding area did. The ghost town ambiance of the hotel shielded us from the rest of civilization as our conversations were lost within them, completely lost to the world as the words disintegrated once they passed our lips.
It was relieving to know that any conversation here was safe and just between us.
"I can hardly believe that we're even here right now."
'Hm?" I looked at Nic, watching as his eyes took him lightyears away from the moment we were in. So much was happening in between the depths of his pupils and his brain. The only part of him that was here was his vessel, his body, his physical being that only followed the directions of whatever vastness his existence consisted of.
"What would've happened if I would've left earlier, or if you didn't stop by at all?"
"What are you-" I get cut off by him continuing to speak.
"What if we never found our way back to one another? How'd we end up in the same place at the same time after not speaking for a month?"
He was getting further away from his body as he pondered questions out loud. For once, he seemed like the anxious one between us. I just watched him as each question lingered around us, each some paining me more and more as reality entered the sacred place we created for ourselves. His muscles relaxed as he slipped farther and farther away from me.
I know I need to do something. However, he was right. It was an unspoken idea that stood between the two of us.
"Hey," I rest my hands on either side of his face, forcing him back into his vessel in front of me. Wherever he was right now, I wanted him to be far away from it.
He flinches lightly as he reentered his vessel, his eyes finally moving to meet mine. His grip on me tightens, pulling me closer to him.
"What are you so scared of?" I murmur as if anyone else was around to hear the conversation.
I watched him bite the inside of his cheek, hesitating an answer that he was probably choking on. His gaze breaks from mine as he starts to slip away once again.
"Nic...hey," I pulled his head up, feeling his presence return as he blinked, "Why so sentimental all of a sudden?"
"It just baffles me sometimes that we keep finding our way back to one another. I can hardly wrap my head around what forces just want us."
Forces?
and us?
"Forces?" I question.
"Do you believe in fate, or is everything about us just sheer coincidence? How did we end up at our place at the same time after not speaking for so long and then get back to this?" He continues to question, glancing up at the sky as if it would give us any answers with its vastness.
I hadn't ever thought about the complexity of the universe in terms of us. I never had to. Everything about us just always makes sense because we make sense.
Coincidence or fate....?
How can we even decide what force brought us together?
Coincidence seems like it just happened, like the odds were way to slim to ever guarantee us ever meeting. If he never decided to come to the same bookstore as me or if Connie and Jean never sent me out to get the book and groceries...would us even exist?
