She rubs the healing cut onher hand to feel
the sting of pain,
To forget the stinging
that is in her chest and soul.
She turns up the
music and puts on her
head phones,
To drown out the thoughts
in her head.
But she keeps listening
to the one song that
reminds her of that
pain,
The one song that makes
her believe that what
she's feeling is real.
She plays it over and
over again until she
knows the lyrics by heart,
That song that describes
her deep secret desire.
Whenever she thinks
about the one
thing that will heal her,
She can barely see it.
It's cloaked in fog,
But she can hear it.
The sweet song that
draws her closer,
Something is keeping her from it.
An unseen obstacle,
That keeps her from her
hearts song.
